I really love this show. It has so much warmth and honestly brilliant pacing. The conceit of revealing a complex magic/scifi setting through a slice of life story structure has really made for some interesting episodes.The original spritework is by Merrigo and was made as an animation for the Steven Universe soundtrack. I've made alterations to make the sprites read better in the perler palette.

Cool! These look like they'd fit right into an awesome indie retro game. Could you tell me what the five or so more reddish purple (plum?) pixels on Amethyst are supposed to represent? I was going to ask about the red pixels in Garnet's hair as well, but I'm guessing they're a highlight to give the hair more definition.

It's from the show Steven Universe. It's basically about a kid being raised by magical girl-esque aliens. Part of what makes it fun is that the magical elements are used to further ordinary sitcom plots. Like when he wants his friend's parents to think he has a normal two-parent family so he gets the gems to fuse into a twenty foot tall six-armed being to be his mother.
