More PatF fanarts! I'm getting better at backgrounds. Got a little lazy with Tiana, should have put more effort into her coloring. She doesn't feel like she's a part of the image. Critiques are always welcome

The scene looks quite involving, even compelling. You could consider that the blue setting around her reflects Tiana's emotional state . . . her perceptions and feelings, rather than reality. Sometimes when we're feeling bad, the world around us can look grayer, or even blue.
A great emotional piece though! Keep it up!

I take my comment about her being a black splotch back. Obviously something was terribly wrong with my monitor at the office. This looks great! Maybe some more shadows would make her look less out of place?

More contrast on the shadows might help. She's got a lot of shadow, they're just not dark enough to notice.

Maybe you can make her seem more blueish? As in the actual color blue; that might help her fit in better.

The color settings on this monitor make Tiana look like a funky black splotch. I'll have to comment again when I get to school and have better equipment. I love the background though! You are getting good at them quickly. What kind/size tablet are you using?

I'm just using a simple 6 x 8 tablet I got back in college. It's a Wacom Intuos (I think? Not by my home computer)

Thanks! I tried putting an overlay layer over her, but it didn't work. I'll try making her transparent instead.
I'm starting to like doing BGs! Staging the composition is starting to become my favorite part.

well i think the background cancels her out....and i think that you coul color her differently...its drawn well
