[ Personality ]
Five positive and Five negative at least. Balance them out.
+kind, adventurous, passionate, earnest, amiable+
=introverted, casual, proud=
--blunt, mildly hedonistic, impatient, short-sighted, tactless--

Gin's personality is, often times, blunt and rather forthright. He speaks before he thinks, which leaves his heart on his sleeve. Most times, this comes across as passionate, tripping over words trying to get them out of his head fast enough. This, actually, will even sometimes come across as extroverted, not having problems starting conversations with miscellaneous strangers. Despite his bluntness, he usually tries to get along with people, even when he doesn't care for them. Not because he thinks he might have a use for them in the future, but simply because he would rather people treated him amicably back. Though never being fond of large groups, or having lots of friends, he does genuinely enjoy having friends.

Most of what he does, he does because he enjoys it, and it is rare for him to do something for another out of the simple goodness of his heart. Fortunately, most of what he enjoys is almost selfless: he likes making people smile, he likes being kind, he likes protecting people. Though, he also greatly enjoys fighting people, and isn't afraid to pick a fight just for the fun of it. He is also very much a hit first, ask questions later kind of person, which isn't necessarily the best trait to have. Much like speaking, he doesn't think before he acts, and doesn't think about the repercussions his actions will have in the long run.

Likes & Dislikes:
+summer, animals, vegetables, cooking, camping, warm weather, strawberries, hot and humid rainy days, wearing bows in his hair, colorful fashion, Luna, hiking, working out, fighting, tuna
-winter, spiders, most seafood, bananas, birds(one fear), wearing socks, milk chocolate, grocery shopping, snowy days, his father, clothes shopping, being short, getting reprimanded, people tugging on his bow, calamari

[ History ]
England, March 29th, 1956
Two little girls are born, to Ryuu and Elizabeth Ito. Their birth names are Luna and Ginevra; their father fondly calls them Ruru and Gin.

England, 1961
Ginevra's maternal grandmother succumbs to her battle with cancer. No longer with any family anchoring their mother to England, Ryuu finally convinces Elizabeth to return to Japan. The girls, whos' primary language is English, speak an odd combination of both English and Japanese, using words from both languages interchangeably. Ryuu and Elizabeth find it endearing.

Their first instructor, upon arriving in Japan and starting primary, does not.

Japan, prior to July 8th, 1968
Both Luna and Ginevra experience some minor bullying and ostracization, due to the language barrier. This lessens over time, as they integrate into the Japanese language and culture. It is during this time, Luna blossoms as the social butterfly. It is noted, Gin keeps to herself more, but is not afraid to stand next to Luna and hold her hand.

Japan, July 8th, 1968
The morning of July 8th was a perfectly nice, warm morning. Plans were made to take a trip to the coast, for Elizabeth's birthday. These plans were cut short, in a fatal accident that resulted in the death of Elizabeth. Both Gin and Luna made it out of the crash relatively unscathed, comparatively, Luna with a minor fraction in her ribs, and Gin, a broken wrist. Ryuu was left comatose, for a few months following the crash.

Luna, luckily, didn't witness their mother die.

Gin bore witness to their mother's decapitation.

Japan, 1968 following the crash
After the crash, while their father was incapacitated, their paternal Grandmother stayed with them to care for them. Both girls were despondent, in the months afterward, and even into the new year.

It is during this time, some students tried to take advantage of their classmate's mourning to bully the twins. Neither child was particularly perturbed by the bullying, and often didn't react to it.

This changed, the day they successfully managed to make Luna cry. That was Gin's first fight.

Japan, Junior High
After Gin's first fight during their first year of Junior High, he began to unintentionally cultivate the image of a delinquent. Where Luna found a healthy outlet after the death of their mother as a newly aspiring artist, Gin did not. His outlet was the fights, quick-tempered and easily agitated. His fist was quick to fly if anyone even breathed in Luna's direction in a way he didn't like. This calmed, with time; as he moved on, and accepted his mother's death, but also because Luna slowly ceased to be the target of bullying, most of it focused on Gin. And, as long as Luna wasn't being bullied, he had nothing to protect Luna from.

These years, were also when Ryuu began to show favoritism to Luna. The better child, the one that didn't get into fights, the preferred twin.

Japan, High School
Though Junior High was an emotional rollercoaster, and full of fights for Gin, he mellowed out significantly during high school. Rather than fight out of anger, he found he simply enjoyed the act of fighting. The threat of getting expelled however, stilled his fist; and not once did he start a fight with another student. (Baiting the other student to hit him first, however, was perfectly fair game.)

Gin also started staying out of the house more; joining the track team, to keep him busy after school; going to gyms, in his spare time, to keep away from his father, and his hurtful words. Your mother would be disappointed in you. What sort of grades are these? Ruru is top of your class. You've finally joined a sport? Ruru's in three. What kind of child did I raise, that comes home covered in blood? Wash that off before you get in my house, I don't want to see it. What sort of husband would want you? I don't even want to be your father. Why would Ruru want to spend time with a delinquent? You drag down her image in school.

Ruru would be better off if she had been born an only child.

Gin wondered if their father was right.

Japan, 1974-1976
Getting out from under their father's thumb was something, in particular, Gin was looking forward to, and managed to squeak by graduation with barely acceptable grades. While Luna was happy to take her placement tests and getting into Universities, Gin's priority was getting a job, getting money.

Despite the hurtful things their father said to him, Gin never acted as if there was anything wrong to protect Luna from that knowledge. Until, one day, Gin said the wrong thing, trying to cheer his sister up.

Like Father always says, you're the successful twin. I'm the failure.

Luna didn't find this to be soothing, and confronted him, asking how long he was going to pretend he was fine. Gin found himself at a loss for words, which only infuriated Luna more, and start a cascade of words to come from her mouth. You always protect me. You keep me ignorant. You pretend you're fine. You won't let me help you. You won't even let me see the real you. You're supposed to be my best friend, but I don't even know you.

Don't talk to me until you're done being a facade.

Japan, 1976-1978
Gin, for a long while after his fight with his sister, grew fiercer. He protected her, and that's how she repaid him? By hurting him, just like all the others. Despite his odd jobs, a server, a cook, a particularly bad stint as a call service representative, Gin, without fail, would find himself seeking solitude in the gyms pushing himself until his muscles burned and his knuckles were bruised.

At some point, the heavens parted and light rained down on Gin, walking up to his gym to see a Help Wanted sign.

And for a while, it was good. Even if he and Luna hadn't had a proper conversation in months; even if their father's blatant favoritism escalated, no longer hiding it from Luna. Even if, the job wasn't exactly all he hoped it would be. It was good. It was money in his pocket, and, eventually, he was able to move out.

Japan, 1978-present
Moving out hurt more than expected. First, it hurt to part with the money he had saved up; then, he truly felt the loss of Luna. She had said, to not talk to her until he stopped being a facade-- but even their stilted conversations at dinner, Luna's softly furrowed brows and hurt soothed Gin just enough to pretend he was fine. To pretend, it was better for Luna to be the favorite, to pretend he was fine with it. Moving though, left him without that crutch that Luna was better off without him. Moving, made him doubt his father's words, now that they weren't being said to him. It didn't take long for him to break down before Luna after that, apologizing and telling her how much he missed her and that she is his best friend and that even if she would be better an only child, that he's selfish and glad she's his sister, and their reconciliation followed after that.

Life came much easier, after that. Gin learned, sugar-coating, protecting people wasn't always in their best interest, and stopped trying to hide his thoughts and opinions. This, in particular, made work a little more trying on him. Being one of the few female employees in the gym --the other two greeted gym members, so he was the only female on the floor-- resulted in more than one unwanted romantic advance from gym members, though it was rare enough Gin never batted much more than an eyelash at it. No, I don't want to go to your place and show you how flexible I am. Yes, I do look good in spandex, but I don't look good for you. I don't want to hear about how you want to lick the sweat dripping down my neck.

Usually, Gin offered to fight these people on the mat, with a date as the prize if they won, and handed their ass to them on a silver platter in a crushing defeat. He'd gained a small reputation among the gym members, that spread to other gyms. The fights became more frequent: he became a conquest, the small girl that the men wanted to beat. Truthfully, he didn't mind this, as the flirting and romantic advances had mostly stopped. Even on the rare occasion that he was beaten, no one ever followed up on the supposed date that was offered as a prize. Now, he was a goal for people; something to aspire to; conquer, the unconquerable woman. And truthfully, he quite enjoyed the fights themselves.

He'd almost forgotten about the unwanted harassment from the occasional customer, when one walked up behind him while he was working. Some inane comment --in English, Gin could remember, mildly confused-- about his lovely backside was made, followed by a sharp slap to the ass. This-- this had never happened before. Gin could deal with words, brush them off. The members here, though the romantic advances were unwanted, were respectful enough to not touch him.

Gin's entire mind had come to a standstill, and he can't recall the actual fight itself-- but the American was on the ground, broken nose and busted lip, demanding Gin's immediate termination from his employment.

There was a new rumor floating around gyms now. The unconquerable woman had been fired, after attacking a foreigner and breaking his nose outside the mat. She was out of a job; what gym was going to hire a woman, that had attacked a customer like that?

The rumors reached the ears of Yuito Hanayama. And an offer was made.

[ Trivia ]
-Gin personally uses he/him pronouns, but doesn't correct the use of she/her either, or they/them, as he is both male and female at once.
-Would rather spend the evening in cooking, than go out.
-Hates grocery shopping though.
-Can vividly recall seeing his mother's decapitated head blink in the chaos as the car crash happened.
-During his stint as "the unconquerable woman," he was still called that even after he was beaten; this is because he was 'unconquerable' to the average person. He was a goal, a test of power. Those that beat him were fondly called "The Conquerers" by other members. Another league, per se.
-He knows English, and can understand it at a fluent level, but has trouble with English grammar, and can only speak it slowly.
-Both he and Luna still talk to each other in a combination of English and Japanese. Japanglish???
-Androsexual? Attracted to masculinity, but not necessarily male genitalia. But cute girls are also cute, so thats a thing too.
