Description
There has been just a couple of things changed due to suggestions from the members, so please read over this carefully.What is Magic?
Magic is what causes evoloons to evolve. There are two types of magic, Love Magic and Gift Magic.
Love Magic is earned by drawing evoloons that you yourself own.
Gift Magic is earned by drawing evoloons owned by someone other than you.
How is Magic counted?
Artwork must be colored to earn magic.
Using Bases does not count towards earning magic.
Using photographs as backgrounds do not count towards earning magic OR upgrades.
Lineart and Color = 2 Magic
Shading = 1 Magic
Background = 3 Magic
(Backgrounds must have depth like a landscape or interior)
Background - Rule Changing - Some backgrounds might give you 10 instead of 3 Magic. Please click and read)
Animation = Add one Magic for each frame
If the background is also animated, each frame where the background is animated counts for 2 magic instead of 1
The Evoloon itself must be animated. They cannot just float or jump without having body parts moving.
3D Plushies = 15 Magic
Pillow Plushies = 5 Magic
3D Non-Plush Figures = 10 Magic
3D Digital Models = 5 Magic
Writing = 1 Magic
(every 100 words)
Collaborations: Split the points evenly among all artists involved
For the love magic, calculate the total of love magic earned by each evoloon, including the bonuses if any, then split the amount evenly between each evoloon. For the gift magic, use the same total as the love magic, but split it evenly between each artist.
Any artwork LESS than a fullbody: yields only half the amount of points
(if anything splits unevenly, round up)
Companion Magic
If you draw your evoloon and their companion(s) in the same image with a background, you earn magic from both the evoloon and its companions to go towards upgrades. Both the evoloon and the companion must be full-bodied. This only counts for official evoloon companions. A list of all evoloon companions can be found here: Basic Companions - Event Companions . Each companion grants as much magic as their Evoloon master.
The rainbow evoloon advantage doubles the companion magic only. Not the base magic of the evoloon.

Hello~
First I'll just go through the parts you're confused with, then help you tally your art.
-Gift Magic comes from Evoloons you don't own. So other people's Evoloons, and NPCs as well give gift magic. x3
-Anything that isn't a full body (/ that doesn't follow our Visibility Rules ) only awards half magic. If anything splits unevenly, round up. (I'll break down how that works for both the Headshot and the picture below it)
If determining background magic is a bit hard for you, I'd recommend taking a look at some of the examples we give links to in our Background Rules journal. (I'll give some quick links too, but just wanted to mention they are found in that journal there.)

Lineart & Colour- 2LM
Shading- 1LM
Background with depth- 10LM (As I can see both a foreground and midground) 
You give 13LM to each of your Evoloon, and then earn 13GM for yourself. (Or you can give it to an Evoloon right away. If you Store the gift magic, I'd recommend a tracker. Here's mine as an example, and if you like the layout feel free to use it; Gift Magic Tracker )
--Picture 2--
Lineart & Colour- 2LM
Shading- 1LM
Background- 0. This does not count for out Background rules.
Your Evoloon here gets 2LM
--Picture 3--
When it comes to comics, it's easiest just to count earn panel separately. 
Panel 1
Lineart & Colour- 2LM
Shading- 1LM
Background- 3LM
The grey loon doesn't quiet follow visibility rules, so it gets half magic (3LM). The brown loon is fully in the picture, so they earn you 6GM
Panel 2
Lineart & Colour- 2LM
Shading- 1LM
Background- 3LM
Both loons are not fully in the picture, so both only earn half magic (3). So 3LM and 3GM
For a grand total of 9GM earned, and 6LM earned for your grey loon.
Magic counting honestly takes a bit to get the hang of, so if you're struggling still feel free to ask around (mods or fellow members) for help.

If both evoloons are gifts, then each evoloon grants 13 gift magic, for a total of 26 magic.
If one if the evoloons is yours, then they get 13 love magic and you get 13 magic from the evoloon that is not yours.

Unfortunately neither count for shading as the Evoloon itself is not shaded.
#2 does not count for a background as it is lacking the three element minimum.
Background Rulestarting with this journal going online, we will no longer accept certain backgrounds. Some other backgrounds you did in the past might be worth more now. If you did a background like the first example image, you will not lose the magic from it. But for all future art posted after this journal, backgrounds like this will not give you magic anymore.
Info: To get the 10 Magic your background needs to show more depth than example 2, and have shading and details (not shown in examples).
The art needs to have min. two depth layers (among those):
foreground
midground
background

You can always go in and add the shading, just don't delete the DA posting or it will lose the propor date for the event.
Just switch out the image with the new one.

It's not quite shading, no. Since the evoloons are lighted by the moon, we should see shaded parts. The light is not enough.

Will companion magic go towards love magic or is it its own thing?

No, it's not its own thing.
If you draw a companion with it it's evoloon guardian, it adds magic to the evoloon's magic.

So even though my child has gold/crème-esk color, if I did a full graphite drawing of them without color, would it still count even though they aren't technically grayscale? Something like this:

If i have 3 of my own Evoloons in a drawing - Lineart, Colored and shaded (No background), that's +3 LM for each of them.
But i also have a "story" below the art on 234 words.
Do they each get +2 for writing so in total +5 LM in that total piece?

hi! If i draw multiple loons from other people in one piece, do i get Gift Magic for each of them or just for one?
Like for example i draw a picture with a background valued at 10GM and 3 loons that belong to others fully shaded and following the visibity rule, would i get 13 GM for each or just 13 GM?

My traditional style just has the pencil and then the color, would that just count as a sketch or as lineart?
The left image would not count because the color fill is sketchy and not solid.
If it was solid and the colors shows are the actual characters colors it would count. no BG or shading would mean 2 magic.
The right image is fully colored and solidly colored. It is absolutely accepted.
Currently pure lineart does not grant any magic.
The word "lineart" appears on the guide but it is just something we haven't edited yet. It's confusing language on our part.

Just curious, but do old artworks that used to count for 3 magic for the BGs get recounted..? I know there's some old pics that I put a lot of effort into with BGs, so just curious if I need to recount them. :'00c

is it correct that each evoloon has their own LM value but GM isn’t divided (eg. loon 1 has 20 LM and loon 2 has 50, but both have 30 GM)?

Each loon gets their own Love and Gift magic. The only time two loons can share Magic is when they are Heart Bonded.

Not quite. You have the right idea but GM is essentially pooled and then given to an Evoloon.
So LM is earned per Evoloon, while all your Evoloons pool GM until you want to use the GM. Which then you give the gift magic to the Evoloon you want it on (and subtract it on your pool).
