Of all the eggs and all the efforts, very few actually bore child. Many remained still and lifeless, while others spilled forth agonized abominations that quickly found the mercy of death. These rare moments brought forth new life, but one that was still flawed. Though they were alive and whole, they were still not the perfect vessel for their god. Something was still wrong. But these failures were not discarded, as they were taken in by the colony. Though warped by the dark rituals, the members still knew the pain of abandonment, and had no wish to ever inflict such pain on their own. These children joined their brethren in their efforts, all in the hopes of bringing forth their master from beyond. Due to their anatomy, they found use in sneaking into villages and taking from the human populace. Shrouds of cloth and woven cloaks did much to hide their appearance and allow them to blend in. Some used this mimicry to steal materials for their rituals, while others used it to capture the more lively ingredients. The similar limbs, familiar body shape and strange fangs did enough to fool your wanderers and drunks, long enough to sink their claws in. With prey in hand, they would bring them back to the colony, so that their flesh and blood could help bring forth a new batch of eggs.

Though they were simply born into this cult, they willingly join their brethren in this dream. In the hope of bringing forth their god and reshaping the world. After all, what place do they have in this one?
