Looks like mix master finally got to the graboids.

"What if Graboids were like caterpillars?" Brilliant idea.

Thanks! Their fat grubby bodies gave me the impression of caterpillars, and it just grew from there!

Butternopefly. You can't hide.
I am imagining them flying around and then farting to dash to their prey.

That is how I see them hunting as well. They use the heat sensing organ and tongues like the Shriekers to locate prey. Then they swoop down and use their blasting rears to get a burst of speed to catch prey off guard. Prey is grabbed in their mouths or legs, and then are flown off to be consumed elsewhere. If the victim is caught in the legs, then they use the grabbing tongue to pull them into the mouth.

Well, there are American, Arctic, and African subspecies of Graboids. This could be the Asian Graboid.

It could be a variation that lives in jungle environments, where a flying lifestyle helps it feed on prey that would live and hide in the trees.

Awesome! Would love to see Graboids just getting weirder in the movies.

Thanks! Though it would be fun to see them get weirder, I think I prefer them sticking to the simple life cycle that they have between Graboid -> Shrieker -> Assblaster. What would have been a neat thing to see was the canceled TV series Tremors 2: Aftershock- The Lost Monsters, where the main guys are hired to fight all sorts of different creatures! You could throw all the weirder crazy designs in there!

True, true. I do feel there might be room for one more form though, maybe even as a unique specimen, even if just to help spice things up for Tremors 7. That cancelled show sounds pretty awesome though!

Ooooo! What about an aquatic version? That would be a fitting one and a concept I don't think that has been touched on in any of those movies. Get a graboid that has adapted to switching between a underground and underwater lifestyle!

Yeah, yeah! An aquatic Graboid would be awesome! Might be a little out of the scope of their budget, but I'd definitely welcome it. I was thinking either some sort...of "Mother" Graboid. Not a Queen per se, but similar in concept. That, or just a really, really big specimen.

Oh it would definitely be out of range for their budget, but it is nice to dream! Or perhaps a more amphibious Graboid, like one that is in swamps and bogs. I would be wary about doing a Mother Graboid, because I feel they would go and make it a Queen, which is has been quite overused. Maybe they could do something like El Blanco, where it is a Graboid that is unable to produce Shriekers. Perhaps there is a mutation or change that occurs for Graboids that are sterile that turn them into some kind of "warrior" caste? A giant specimen that follows mobs of Shriekers and acts as their muscle to take down dangerous prey.

Really, any of those would be neat as hell! Here's hoping they play around with something in the next movie or two. I know I was a little disappointed, if understanding, when they revealed there would be basically no differences between the South African and Canadian versions.

It makes sense with the limitations of their budget. Personally I am more disappointed in the later movies in general than the Graboid designs. Not a fan with those.

Yeah, it's just a shame. I actually legit enjoy the later ones. I don't think there's any that I don't like.

I am good with 1-3, haven't seen 4, but 5 just hit all the wrong buttons. I just can't stand when movies take beloved characters and put them through the "I'm too old for this" plot and introduce an obnoxious young replacement character.

I can get that. Luckily, it seems like Burt is going anywhere any time soon. Hopefully stays that way.
