Description
This piece has been rolling back and forth for over a year now, and I'm still not really happy with it, but to tell you the truth, I'm just so tired of meddling with it. So I hastily fixed the things I disliked the most to feel at least passable, and called it done.
I was originally planning on making both this and like a pair for this with all the robots and dinos. I'd still really like to have that accompany this, so I might do that eventually, but for now I'm gonna do something different.
Ever since I started selling at artist alleys I've been wishing that I had a folder of prints or even post cards since those are like a staple at such events, (even if my co-sellers have told me that they usually don't sell particularly well) but I don't really have any art worthy of those formats. So I decided to start somewhere, and that somewhere was my favorite game Tokyo Jungle. It's kind of UG so I'm not really expecting to sell these much at all, but I wanted to get more comfortable with making full pieces like this through a piece of media that I personally love. If anything, this oughta be a nice filler for that folder... :---D A folder with like two pieces would be quite lame, anyway.
I don't know if anyone noticed, but I've really been trying to wake up my artsy hobbies again, including uploading them, now that the most demanding years of my education should be over. Maybe. Hopefully. We shall see, but at least it's summer now and I'm free to try!
Tokyo Jungle is by Crispy's and SCE Japan Studio

ALL THE HIGH FIVES FOR YOU BUDDERINO!! I absolutely love it, I could talk about it forever but the few people I know who tried it don't like it. ; _ ; I mean I can totally see why, it's not perfect by any means, but darn it if it isn't just a hell of a lot of fun!
Thank you so much, the atmosphere was what I struggled with here a lot - all the references have the blue sky (which I admit feels kind of iconic here) but I wanted to have a contrast for if/when I make a pair for this piece, I'd like it to be a menacing red instead of the warm yellow I used here.

Yeah it's the same for me, I tried to show it to some people I knew but it gets no attention at all. I also can see why it's not very popular as it's a very repetitive game and essentially based on luck and random events but I just love this game, I spent hours and hours on it playing as animals and trying to level them up as much as possible and it was so fun ^^ The storyline is also very interesting (and at some moments quite similar to the Lion King haha) and especially at the end, the final scene was so sad and emotional... I was so happy to see such a developed story in a game that seems pretty much limited at first sight.
I really really like the colors you used for the characters and as I said it feels so good to see some more fanarts of this game because they're so rare! You can still make another drawing if you want to try a different atmosphere. A menacing red would be quite accurate to the fact that you're trying to survive in a very hostile city that has become a jungle... the title of the game says it all haha ^^

Heyy I also noticed the similarities to Lion King! I really liked how the sides kept changing through the story, like there wasn't any singular "hero" or good guy maybe apart from the starting pom, just like it is in the wild. And how almost all of the stories were connected in the end. I also liked the ending, especially since you had to collect the journal pieces from the secret lab before unlocking the final episode, and I remember kind of stopping at the end where the robot is and just circling it like the curious animal that I was playing as, wondering what the heck it was, and then only after finding out what it was and what happened to it - The first time I found it felt so genuine and curious, like it would for an animal to find it in their jungle!
But honestly what does it for me is simply being able to play as so many different animals, and if I haven't been playing anything at all for a while it's just an easy choice to start with again. I get motion sickness very easily after not playing anything for a period of time, but the camera is static enough to not even have that issue!

Yaas, word! If only I knew a way to mod the game I'd never stop making new animals to play as in it, haha!
Thank you so much for giving me an outlet to hype this game, it felt so good to just pour it out with someone who agrees and hypes it up also!
