I must say this is a beautiful piece. I don't often see dinosaur art with REAL EMOTIONS OMG, much less raptors (these are Utahraptors, right?) I usually come across bloodthirsty carnivores and herbivores fighting for their life. This was immensely refreshing and I am going to go check out your gallery!

If you don't mind me asking, how did you lose your mom? I don't think I've ever seen you talk about it in much detail.

My mom had gotten into a car accident when I was about 9 months old, so we think she was suffering from liver damage since then. I know that she was on a lot of medication, most of it related to the accident. She did go to the doctor since then, but she didn't want to see a doctor on the last day when she got really sick. It seemed just like a fever, and I remember (as a little kid) thinking that she'd be fine the next day.
May I ask what happened to your mom?

Damn, I'm really sorry to hear that.
My mom died when I was around 3 in a helicopter crash. She was a practicing EMT and was returning from a successful rescue when the helicopter crashed into a cell phone tower that didn't have its lights on. It was at night and foggy and the pilot didn't see it until it was too late.
I was probably lucky that I was too young to remember much of what went on during that time. It's hard to imagine how it must have been in your case, or in Empa's case.

Yeah, I'd say you were lucky, too. It would be twice as hard if you were old enough to remember all the details. Dang...that's really sad.
It was tough. I still miss her. I wonder if the doctors would have been able to catch it if she went soon enough. But...that's a really harmful way of thinking: to think of what you could have done in the past. And I was 7 at the time, so I really couldn't have done anything to force her to go to the doctor more frequently. =/ So...the past is the past, and I'd like to believe that everything happens for some greater reason/purpose.
Sorry for the rant. But yeah...losing a parent is tough.
