Description
This updated version of the ancient M16 platform was released in an attempt to save Colt Ballistics from bankruptcy in 2922. Unfortunately, the rifle's gauss-hybrid system was unreliable and prone to failure, and while this was rectified in the MAG-16A1, the negative PR sunk Colt's hopes of salvation, and the company was bought out by Barrett-Winters FMC in 2930. MAG-16 production was not resumed after the buyout, and the remaining examples are now collector's pieces.
