The original Matador Mauler was a compact SAW intended for spacecraft use. Unfortunately, it was out-competed by a number of lighter-weight carbines and SMGs that provided similar firepower with greater agility.
The design was resurrected in 4402 as a gausstech-upgraded companion to the Aucken T-series service rifle. With a set of high-power gauss coils and a different competition environment, the Mauler found success on its second attempt. It was the standard line SAW in Corporate service during the War of 4404.

The Mauler is a 7.62mm automatic gausstech weapon with a high fire rate, feeding from half-circle 70-round magazines. As a team support weapon, it has the ability to guide smart rounds, including munitions fired from cover by other weapons.
