Here's a couple of sketches of the moments that stuck with me after finishing the latest Skulduggery Pleasant book, "Last Stand of Dead Men."
I apologise for the obvious spoilers contained here but there are some things I just had to sketch down!
I don't think I've ever felt more betrayed by a literary character than I have by Erskine Ravel... On the other hand I stand up and applaud Derek Landy for pulling off a plot twist that not one fan saw coming and yet still making it entirely plausible if devastating!

i love that one of skul and val in the desert; it makes me sad because it was their last truly happy moment together tho..:c oh well, it's a fab drawing anyhow!

Actually I saw Ravel's betrayal coming. When Derek Landy makes a character THAT likeable and nice, you can be damn sure we're going to see some serious shit.

I've read the book and know most of the scenes, but could you just remind me what the cloaked figure is from (what scene/who)?

Also, umm... who's Valkyrie fighting with? (Where they're both holding each other's throats)? ^^

At the finale, Stephanie (Valkyrie's reflection) finds herself battling Charivari, the leader of the Warlocks and they get locked in a (very brief) stalemate.

The reflection has evolved more of a personality making it that much more difficult to tell them apart!

Well, when China catches up to Skulduggery he has just finished beating up Portia, one of the Children of the Spider, but China doesn't know if she is dead or unconscious and doesn't care either way!
Then Skulduggery is attacked by the Black Cleaver (formerly White) and presumably kills him using shadow magic much to China's shock!

Haha! To clear things up a little, "Skulduggery Pleasant" is a book series written by Derek Landy about a centuries-old sorcerer named Skulduggery Pleasant, who after being killed and then revived as an undead skeleton in order to fight in a war that was going on at the time, now works as a detective in modern day Ireland helping to maintain order and peace between the magical and mortal world alongside his partner and apprentice, Valkyrie Cain. -I should mention that sorcerer's give themselves unusual titles in order to protect their true names from mind-controlling spells!
Skulduggery, Valkyrie and their various associates frequently have to save the world from other sorcerer's who wish to either control it or destroy it.
The ninth and final book is due to be released in September (with a collection of short stories to be published in July) so now is as good as time as any to get into this series!
The SP books are known for their great action, incredibly funny wit and huge cast of deeply involving characters so I really cannot recommend them enough!

Jesus, I must have read the book a bit wrong. I know China was overheating but I never imagined her literally going crispy and stuff. I guess I expected too little of Mister Landy here.

Truthfully, I am very likely over-imagining the scene as it doesn't specifically mention burning skin and the like but with the spiders and China's clothes becoming incinerated, Skulduggery and Darquesse's horrified reactions and China finding it harder and harder to walk and use her eyeballs, my brain jumped to the image of her literally burning from the inside out!
When Darquesse draws the heat out of her, I see China's hair and skin instantly grow back before she collapses.
Again, I am probably over-thinking the whole scene but I had to draw it anyway!

Nah, no such thing as over imagine. I'd had the same sort of image as well, especially with the characters interactions with her as she's being burnt alive. I'd rather like to see more of your ideas as to what scenes looked like. I think that'd be wicked

Well, the one on the left is Gracious and the one on the right is Fletcher -who seems like he is going to become a future Monster Hunter anyway!
