And why, when given the choice, knowing that the consequences of your actions will surely cause you a great deal of pain, and cause a million souls to weep...
Why would you step forwards into the danger that was going to take away a part of you?

Because you wanted to move on, and you were prepared for the pain and anguish in your way.
You allowed the pressure on your back to propel you forwards, guiding you willingly towards the pain.
You needn't close your eyes since the blindfold blocked your vision.
Didn't mean that your eyes weren't scrunched tightly.
You couldn't bear it, knowing what you were leaving behind. The encouraging nudges on your back helped you walk, but you could not stand without the aid of someone there.
And you began to fall forwards.
And you stopped.
Someone had caught you in mid-air.
They were lifting you up, helping you stand, holding your hand as they guided you forwards.
They didn't remove your blindfold so you wouldn't be scared.
They cared deeply for you.
They squeezed your hand as you came to a stop, holding it tightly as you felt the rope being placed around your neck.
But you weren't scared.
There was always someone there for you.
