Magneto in this alternate Marvel Universe is Erik Magnus, a European born mutant of Jewish descent who has gone on to establish himself as one of the most powerful & dangerous mutants alive. Magneto’s history involving his wife Magda, their first child and Magda’s learning of his powers is still intact. (His eldest daughter, Anya’s death in a fire started by villagers fearful of his perceived difference, his then pregnant wife’s fear of his enormous power when he retaliates for their child’s death and the stories he has heard of humanities willingness to destroy those that they perceive as different while growing up from his parents, who as teenagers endured and survived the horrors of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp, are the catalysts for the philosophy he eventually chooses to follow in regards to mutants becoming the dominant species in society) Magus is very well versed in various fields of science & genetics having taken an interest in learning all he could about human mutations when his powers manifest as a teen.

During the years that he searches for his pregnant wife after she runs away, he also takes the time to learn more about mutants and the cause of mutations as well as extend his knowledge in other science fields he believes will be useful in his future goals that are only then beginning to form at that time. It is during one of these fact-finding trips at a biology conference that he first meets Charles Xavier. Realizing after their first encounter that Charles Xavier could be a problem for him in the future, Magnus when first deciding to adopt the identity of Magneto uses the tech knowledge he has acquired over time to design and equip a helmet with circuitry that allows him to resist all forms of psychic and telekinetic attacks as well as begins construction of the base that will become Asteroid M using resources he acquired using his magnetic abilities.

Several months after he started his activities as Magneto he finally discovers the location of Magda’s uncle Djingo Maximoff's roving band of gypsy’s (the only relative & place Magda would have fled to after she left him) and learns of the fate of his wife who died giving birth to their now teen aged twin children Pietro & Wanda, and he forcefully takes them into his care once he establishes that they are mutants like himself and would later use them as part of his original Brotherhood of Mutants that he establishes as a counter to Xavier’s X-Men under the names of Quicksilver & the Scarlet Witch prior to their turning against their father & his quest for mutant domination.

Magneto has formed a second & more powerful Brotherhood of Mutants to counter Xavier's current X-Men team after the original team disbanded due to most of the members either chose to abandon Magneto's goals out right or to focus on personal gain over the goal of a mutant dominated society.
