That's an excellent find right there! Most of these were just driven into the ground, used like appliances. A damn shame, because these were some very beautiful cars. They were proof that midsize cars can look very beastly. '64 and '65 are my two favorite years for four-door Malibus. You can really see where they took some cues from the Impala (front clip, hood, trunk lid) and integrated them with the smaller body. Pretty amazing how boring the 'Bu became over the years. Park one of these next to a '97 to see what I mean! And then do a stoplight drag race.

My neighbor owns a newer one, it's got 'dat GM paint peel though.

Sounds like the GM I know! In the late '70s and '80s, it was swirls. In the '90s and 00's it was peels. They just couldn't get it right, could they? Ford had it own awful paint problems, like swirls in the '60s and '70s, and HORRIBLE peeling in the '03+ panthers. The latter's been documented extensively by the enthusiast forums, haha.
