Very nice, not much has changed in a railroad contextΒ

Well...the GP/SD40-2s would be C44-9Ws in Orange, SD9's are gone (replaced by SD40-2s and GP40-2s), and there are more fences.... But trains is trains!

Yeah but the design changes are more with the inner motor than the outer hull, as for the fences, the police state mentality has got to go.Β

A/C as opposed to DC (with the increase in HP) and the Wide-cab mainly.

Makes sense, and more 12 wheeled Diesel road switchers, even though the outside visuals are still mostly the same, it's more of the inside that has changed

Wonderful times back then. How I miss them.

I was recently at the bridge over Highlands (it was closed though) but I was thinking, I wish I had known of that place when the E units still ran.

I never did get there for the E's. It was always closer at LaVergne. It would have been cool though. I wonder if it's closure is permanent?

They closed to replace the whole bridge. They are going to expand it into a 2 lane and have sidewalks on each side of it. It isn't going to open until 2016 though.

Bummer in a way, the old one was made from a roundhouse turntable. But the new one seems more practical for railfanning.

Is that true? I didn't know that. Wow, knowing that makes it a little more special now. The new design is going to have fence-like structures extending upward so it might be a little tough to grab some photos.

Yeah, I remember reading about it.Β
Need wire cutters, must make foamer holes!
I still manage to get shots from Laramie Bridge and Mannheim into Proviso, there are usually a few gaps around the streetlight towers.

Hahaha, you are the only railfan I know to use the word Foamer. I've read of it and I know what it means, I just never heard being used before. I remember you mentioned the gaps before, that is a nice way to get around the fencing.
