Description 12/1/89: A cold, yet sunny late autumn day at Berwyn, Illinois, much interesting motive power. A rebuilt GP30 (GP39E, 2755) passes the trackworkers at LaVergne behind an SD40-2 on a TOFC consist.

im actually a trackman from ny's metro north railroad. we wear those vest all the time but when its cold as it looks in that picture the vests dont really fit. they actually started giving us company coats a few years ago that are bright as heall with reflective strips on them

If I'm not mistaken this was before rail workers started wearing safety vests.

Thanks! He's a railway worker, they were doing work on the tracks there. Now it seems odd because they always seem to have neon safety vests.
