I think our Prime Minister up here said in the house When Canada has "Senate Envy" about Sentoral Elections in Australia

It is actually amazing that Canada and Australia shares everything execpt weather and the set up of the senate

also brilliant I do love the clarity and the colours, it is just like being there. I also love the borders you have used on the shots of both houses. Fabulous!

They turned out pretty well, I think I used the tripod and my cable release to make sure that I had nice, sharp, well-exposed shots. I don't think the light in there would have been enough to let me take them when I was holding the camera in my hands.

God only knows what the tourists thought of me when they saw me extracting my camera from its pouch on my back and setting it up in the public gallery. I kept expecting the staff to pull me up and tell me I couldn't use the tripod in there

That's funny! You are having some luck in comparison to your expectations with that tripod in public places (like the War Memorial taking the plane shots) I am surprised some guard with an itchy trigger finger doesn't have a panic attack

Well, to get it into parliament house, I had to pass all my stuff through the x-ray machine (airport style). None of the guards said anything about it.

I guess I'm just sensitive to getting in other people's way. Some places don't like people doing that.

I understand. My comment was a flippant one. It is gracious of you to consider others, so many people do not these days. Good for you.

Part of it is self-interest, really. I like having the ability to use my tripods to get better photos. If I was an arsehole about the way I used them, then places like the War Memorial or Parliament house might ban them outright, which would then make getting good photos nearly impossible.

It's like walking through nature: you try not to disturb things so it's left in good condition for other people
