This is from the story Iron Hearts by SFAccountant

An MLP/Warhammer 40K Crossover

The Iron Warriors 38th Company has landed in Equestria, entrenching themselves like a barbed hook. They hunt the aliens of the Tau Empire, intent on destruction and pillage.

A small squad is dispatched on a reconnaissance mission, only to find that there is intelligent life on this world besides the feuding space-farers.

Will these improbably adorable and friendly equine aliens turn the damned warriors of Chaos from their blood-soaked path, cleansing them of their dark legacy with the magic of friendship and harmony?

The image hurts my eyes, trying to decipher it. I mean the first problem is that they are grouped too closely together. Coupled with the fact they're all in similar armour, causes them to blend together. The looming background figure of Pinkie's Dreadnought makes it even harder to distinguish between the power armoured individuals. Which is a shame, cause once I pick out each character, they look fairly awesomely detailed. I know this is only going to be a banner, and not a lot of people will look at it too long. But my own artistic eye, Β can't help but notice these flaws. If the red/orange background stayed, but the looming figure was removed, it would make picking out each individual and seeing all the detail on their armour, much easier. But then you're leaving out one of the main characters. >.<. Overall this is awesome, but my eyes have taken awhile to adjust to the image, without it all blending together. Which gave me a tiny headache.

Hope this critique helps, next time you do a similar project. You're a really talented person. I particularly like the level of detail and the lighting and shadows.

It does and thank you for your feedback. I get far too little constructive criticism.
Warhammer is a very challenging thing to paint especially if you need to have multiple main characters in one picture. its part of the issue with the banner size on the group site (Fim) and the sheer detail any warhammer main character has. In the end we decided to go with warhammer tradition and make an all out picture, no restraints and go a little chaotic, ha ha.

Yeah WH40K stuff is pretty hard to draw. A regular space marine alone, can have so much stuff going on. Like armour decoration, joints, cybernetics, chapter colours and patterns, so many wargear variants etc. It did end up a bit of a chaotic mess, but at least one, that's kind of fun to decipher. I think if you'd maybe added a little variation in their armour colours, it could have worked better. But as I recall in the story, the Mane 6 all have legion colours. So your hands were very tied, when working on this one in a lot of ways.

Leaving out a main character? You mean Spike?
He's... not so much a main character in the story this banner represents.

I do agree that the image is crowded, but I preferred that to a version where they were more spaced out so you can easily see each individual character. I feel that this arrangement looks more organic, like they're really in a squad formation heading into a combat zone.

No I meant Pinkie in the dreadnought would be left out, if we took her out of the pic, to make the others more clear and easy to pick out.
