Well, I've started with drawing very random shapes, looking like wings.. I've drawn at least 10 different variations
Then, once I was pleased with 'em, I scanned them and opened the file in paint.net, the programme I use for the outlines. When the outlines were done and saved as a png-file (every different coloured wing saved as a different file), I went searching through google to find glitter-patterns in different colours, and copied the images to gimp. I opened the outlines in gimp, and added a layer to add the glitters (after that, remove the parts that are outside the outlines). Once I was happy with it, I coloured the inside, translucent parts with matching colours to the glitters. Again, save every wing as a different file. Then, open the files in paint.net and combine the wings
