Description

Some times all you need is a little help. In this case, it looks like Scootaloo’s got herself about 50,000 foot pounds of it.

Has to be a VTOL if it's in the middle of the forest.

No not really, they never made a VTOL version of the F-15 but that's because they don't really need to. During the cold war there was an acknowledgement that air base would be the first targets, take out the air bases and the planes are stuck on the ground right? Well not exactly, NATO and the United States came up with plans to use road ways ( for instance the Autobahn in Germany) as runways instead of traditional airbase. And to use the nearby forest as a makeshift hanger using camo nets to hide the planes while on the ground. From the air the stretch of road would look just like any other, but ground forces could in a matter minutes remove the center divide and the lights to create a runway. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKNS5_… ; (Finnish F/A-18's sometime vary recent), www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHwwAV… (Hawker Hunters at the end of the Cold War) Some NATO countries still practice this method to this vary day! In the case of the F-15, like many NATO jets of the 70's and 80's, they were designed to be able to start without external aid in under 15 minutes and take off from short runways.

As for the scenario depicted in the picture, well I imagine that they would tow the plane to this location in the woods and that they would have to tow it back to the runway and start the engines once they got there. The idea that the CMC would stumble across the plane and be able to explore it came from stories I heard from WWII, when the Luftwaffe would park its planes in a similar fashion and kids form nearby villages would be able to play with the aircraft until an adult would chase them off. I also heard stories off NATO exercises in Germany during the 60's and 70's when tanks and other heavy equipment would be stored in the forest and kids could walk right up to them as long as no one noticed.

P.S. I'am not sure about this, so don't quote me on it but I think I heard somewhere that they made a intake cover for the F-15 with narrow slits in it to allow the engine to breath but not allow debris to get in. If it this is true it would allow an aircraft to taxi from the forest to the runway and back again without needing a tow. But as I said its just something I think I heard nothing concrete.

Now that is one fine war machine.

Scootaloo: "Isn't it great, Dash? Now I can fly as fast as you can! And to think, all I need is a couple hundred hours of flight training and some gears and parts for maintenance!"

Rainbow Dash: [Having seen the thing in action, suddenly feeling VERY inadequate] "Ye-eah..."

Well given how Dash fared against a certain robot that could turn into one of these, I don't think she'll have much to worry about.

The answer to your first question is magic. The answer to your second question is also magic, but maybe a little prayer wouldn’t hurt either. Thanks for your comment and god bless you for everything you do for our country. Simper Fi !

If it would be a russian fighter, I have no doubt about the take off ability...those are like engines with cockpit
I don't say, this plane isn't good (F-14, F-15?)

This is an F-15C Eagle, which is widely used amongst the US and British air forces back in the '80s.

Actually, the British Royal Air Force never used any American-made fighters after WW2; they've used either domestically-produced designs such as the BAC Lightning and Hawker Hunter, or jointly-produced designs such as the Panavia Tornado and Eurofighter Typhoon.

The only foreign users of the F-15 have been in the middle-east (Saudi Arabia & Israel) and Asia (Japan, Singapore, and South Korea).

Actually, it's an F-15E, the two-seat strike fighter variant.
