Description The only "Cockroach" I ever shot!

F-117A-LO, 80-0786 assigned as the 37th TFW Commander's jet, based at the Tonopah Test Tange and seen during the 1991 Davis-Monthan AFB Airshow.

I really detest Airshow shots with all of the crap in the background!

I know what you mean about airshows - I love going and seeing all of the aircraft, but it really is hard to get a good shot. Sometimes I can get a decent close-up, but that's about it.

I got spoiled by over 20 years of flightline photography! Airshows had good acft subjects, they were either not parked well, had terrible backgrounds or crowds!

Looks nothing like the F-19...
They have a lot of nick names, but I prefer "wobbly goblin", never heard "cockroach" before.

I have never heard "Wobbly Goblin" ever used by anyone associated with the "program". The aircraft was actually very stable. I heard "Cockroach" used for many years by ops and nmission planning folks at Nellis and elsewhere..

It might have been the Have blue(?) that was called WG.

I thgink the Bill Gunston, or the other "Book Experts" name the acft that on their own. I have never seen any reference to that name by folks involved with the Have Blue or Senior Trend programs...

I have seen the Have Blue referred to as the "Hopeless Diamond" after the original design shape of the jet.

What I can find, a test pilot said it behaved like a "wobbly goblin" before the computers were up to speed and it spread in news papers.

Cool! I love nighthawks! I even have a cheap die-cast model of one.

At least the cop allowed me to lower the rope in front of the jet.

I agree, but sometimes those are the only shots you can get. I guess that is why they invented photoshop.
