Description FB-111A 69-6510 assigned to 528 BS, 380 BW, based at Plattsburgh AFB and seen at Williams AFB for an airshow back in May 1984.

SAC bombers were pretty boring since their only markings were with only a wing patch on the right side of the nose and a SAC patch on the left. In the 1980's they started using fin stripes to denote the bomb squadron colors.

Here is one such example where the yellow stripe denoted the 528 Bombardment Squadron. The 529th BS at Plattsburgh carried a red stripe.

Is the camouflage washed out or is that just how the sunlight is hitting the aircraft? Because that's a weird camo scheme!

I don't think I ever got to see a FB when they were in service--lots of Es and Fs while in Europe, though.

The acft is a bit spine lit, but the SIOP camo on the SAC Varks were lighter colors than the standard SEA scheme colors.
