Description Micron pens and 45+ hours, and it was worth every second of it
Comments always appreciated

I really, really, truly love this guy. Ronnie Radke has been such an inspiration for me this past year and every time I'm feeling down or think life's too hard, I look at him and everything that he's accomplished despite everything he's been through, and realize that I can keep pushing on.

For those of you who haven't read any of my journal updates, I've been pretty sick this past year, and at first my doctors just dismissed my symptoms and told me that I was probably just too stressed out: it was my senior year, I was freaking out about getting accepted into college, and this could be how my body was handling it.

At around this time, I also starting listening to Falling in Reverse and was just blown away by Mr. Radke's success story. He's been through hell, but he's back, doing what he loves, and just an overall amazing person. I was absolutely captivated by him.

As of yesterday, I was finally diagnosed with Celiacs Disease. It sucks, it really does, but I know I can get through it. I'm a stronger person and I know that even though life has its ups and downs, that I'll make it out okay in the end.

Update: Someone asked me about the lettering I did on his left ribcage. The reference photograph came from the cover of a magazine, and there was a lot of type over the whole image, the worst of it being on either ribcage and on his right arm. I was able to get around it for the most part, but I didn't feel like I have enough to work with on his left ribcage. Instead, I doodled "Ronnie Radke" a couple hundred times until I had written it in a way I liked, and then stippled it on there.

The original photograph belongs to AltPress Magazine: [link]

The work is really impressively done in terms of the accuracy of the copy and there is a vivid uniqueness in the textured you produced. It gives the impression as if you applied effects over a work and really good ones at that. The details are rather astounding and I wish I was able to draw like that. The grainy texture works really well with the work and the rest of the work seems very well captured. Good work!

Thank you so much for you comment! I've definitely falling in love with this style, primarily due to the amount of detail that one can capture solely through dots.

The pointalism is a very cool effect. That's really amazing how much time you've spent doing this.

I really love the depth and spacing. You've done a great job balancing the hues and shadows. Nothing looks too over saturated. I love those shadows as well.

Great accuracy and details.

Truly a feast for the eyes.
And I really hope you're okay.

ahhh "stippiling" (did i get it right?) when i was in school in our art class our teacher just told us pointalisim...seems the same thing but is there a difference or have you heard that term before? because i have actually never heard the term "stippiling"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

f1utterby3 In reply to DisenchantedHeart [2012-08-20 12:57:11 +0000 UTC]

Eh, they're similar in a couple of ways, but pretty different. Stippling is just a shading technique where you focus on the density of dots to show the difference between light and shadows. Essentially the same as any other shading technique, like cross hatching, but for that you use lines, this is all dots.
Pointillism on the other hand focuses on using dots, but is actually more about color. It's typically used to describe paintings where you use dots of colors to do landscapes and such.
So same dot idea, but two different things : )

DisenchantedHeart In reply to f1utterby3 [2012-08-22 00:13:51 +0000 UTC]

OOH (now i think i had a dumbass for an art teacher because he never said anything like that!! lol) that's really cool I haven't done any art in a long time. The only thing I did when we did pointillism was one of Avril Lavigne and I used colored markers on her. I did a faint line drawing ot get her main shape then did the dots and erased the pencil. Your work is really incredible I love it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

f1utterby3 In reply to DisenchantedHeart [2012-08-27 02:00:46 +0000 UTC]

Ahaha mine didn't really ever tell me the difference either. I only know because my dad teaches art in college and one time I called my work "pointillism" and he almost had a heart attack and lectured me on the differences.
Thanks!
