Description bergamot flowers were abloom outside the farmhouse in Vermont in the summer of 2015, and everyday I would sit out on the porch and watch as hummingbirds would gather around them

the petals here kind of have a georgia o'keeffe thing going for them, but I also kind of dig it.

I haven't posted anything since 2014, at which time my style was primarily photo-realistic pointillism. The mindset of spending 40+ hours on a single piece and trying to nail every.single.detail has definitely been something I've been shifting away from over the year or so, and this piece marks the start of my venture from dots to lines. It's a style I'm still experiment with, and so I'd appreciate any comments/critiques!

From Project Comment,
This is pretty, and the details really make this interesting. Your attention to the details, the minute lines really make this more than a simple, forgettable flower picture. Very admirable. The coloring is also good. It's definitely a nice and different style change. Good job.

Hello!!
At first sight, I thought it was something else (like a honeycomb with swords around), didn't know this kind of flowers, I love them,  they're very different from those already I knew, Is curious because the flower is a little empty, however it looks perfect.
I have no criticism for this drawing, You've done an excellent job with this drawing, It has many small details, it is one of the things that I like of a drawing, I'm tempted,  someday smell them, in my mind imagine it's a strong smell, maybe I'm wrong.
Greetings (and I'm sorry if my english is a little strange ^^)
Keep doing good art!

Hi!!! Thank you so much for such a lovely and thoughtful comment. I was telling someone else recently that the reason why the subject of this drawing looks a little other-worldly (and even a little empty) was because it was the end of the season and so many of the petals had fallen off. And if you have the chance to smell them one day, you definitely should -- they're so sweet they attract all of the hummingbirds!

I have to say this is the first Bergamot flower I have ever seen and I think you did a beautiful job. the way you lined the pink on the edge and not over every bit of white in the flower, makes it pop more. I think you made it look, as good, as they smell...

Bergamot happens to be my favorite scent of all time, but I don't get it here, because the organic places, that have it are, too, expensive.

Now, with your description, of the farmhouse and the bergamot, has me wanting to see it, also.

You have me smiling,

Thank you so much for this lovely comment! They were such a strange (almost alien-looking) group of flowers, but that might have also been because it was the end of the blooming season in August and they had lost many of the petals. Either way, I knew I had to draw it.

And I'm so glad it was able to invoke such sensory details for you! xo

You're very welcome and I just have to say. When I first saw it, I didn't know it was a flower. I thought it was some sort of beautiful-looking Amoeba.
