Something to get me back into the groove. I've been swamped with an unusual amount of school work lately (as well as two major exams this week, or well, only one of them now), so here's something I saw in LeSean's gallery. I've always been rather affectionate towards his work, and I just found out recently that the man had a DA gallery, well whoop-dee doo.This is a character design from his up and coming comic book Cannon Busters (issue 1 is out already though, and sold out, I believe).

And sorry for the sloppyness on some parts. Next one I submit should be a little more ambitious.

I'm not entirely sure what it's about. I mean it's like a Steampunk Western sorta, some kind of epic journey, and there's magic involved. There used to be a website, cannonbusters.com, but I think that's down.

hahha.... i've been wanting to colour lesean's work for a while now.... i even asked his permission!! haven't got round to it yet tho cos i've been having a bit of trouble with his sketchy outlines... but somehow you've made it work!!! aaahh.. i'm envious...

Well... I never asked for his permission, to be honest. I did at one point for a different drawing, but never got an answer. That's something you have to come to expect from professional artists, because they're busy as hell. If they'd answer every e-mail asking for permission, they'd never get done.
So my general rule of thumb is that I don't ask (unless I know them personally, or I know how to reach them with a guarantee I'll get an answer), but I make triple sure that I give them appropriate credit, when and wherever I post.

that's interesting... i actually got refused once i think.. or clarified which ones i can/not colour (for other artists)... i asked lesean on DA and he answered me... to tell u the truth.. i never knew he was a professional... hahaha... i'm actually beginning to notice that some of my fav artists are professionals... it's funny... but cool at the same time..
