Description Alright, so this is more or less the key thing we're doing at Uni right now. Every Monday we get a list of artists that we have to research, and then do a journal page about. Basically we're supposed to include some info about each artist and then draw one of their artworks, or something in their style or something along those lines, and this is my journal so far. I decided to include everything I got up to this point, the good the bad and the ugly. Some of these I am proud of, some I seriously never want to speak of again, and most are somewhere in between. These journal pages are my acquaintance with traditional media though, so even though right now I got a long way to go, I am confident that, in time, I'll get a better grasp of it.
I am far too lazy to list the tools used for each individual image, but my repertoire goes something like this: pencils, colored pencils, pastels, chalk, conte, acrylics, a whole lot of watercolor, and a little guache.

ALSO, since the original size of this image is of somewhat gargantuan proportions, I decided to make the real size download only. Don't want to crash any browsers or nothing. For those of you with slower bandwidth however, I also have this journal update split up into three parts (they're still pretty big though), which you can access

Some people have so much artistic talent that it makes me sick... you sir are one of those people and i hate you because i want to be at your level of skill without having to put any of the work in... you had better be satisfied with yourself...

Very awesome. You are really versatile to be able to do so many different styles and in so many different kinds of media. Honestly, each of these journal pages should be a journal cover. You could sell these journals and make a killing! (Also, I think it's so cool that you're German, but you're studying in London. Read it from one of the other comments. I guess I'd need to actually move to German to get more fluent in it)

QUITE impressive - no matter what you say.

That actually sounds like a really intriguing art project. Has it been a fun, growing experience yet? Considering that I don't get neat projects like that, I may try and do something of the like on my own .

Awesome job. Fabulous colors. God-freaking-amazing composition. <3

I can see a bit of Picasso cubism in some of your works! outstanding

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FabianMonk In reply to DEchartea [2007-10-24 15:16:05 +0000 UTC]

Well the very last one is after an actual painting by Picasso, but I'd say there's only two other pieces that are notably (visually) related to cubism, those two being Juan Gris (Harlequin with a guitar) and Georges Braque, the one directly underneath the Gris one.
Thanks for the comment!
