Birrrrds!
I myself am trying to decide between the Green cheek conure and cockatiel for my first bird.
My dream bird is a Hyacinth macaw, tho x'D

ugh conures will be the death of me, I love them. I have a cinnamon green cheek and a blue crown. The blue crown is ridiculously smart and knows people by their names and has a very large vocabulary. I was impressed with everything he's learned, to be honest. I knew he could learn to talk, but not THAT much!

it takes a lot of work but you CAN get them to feel comfortable around you. Check out bird boards for advice. It's mostly a matter of linking verbal cues like "step up" with positive experiences and letting them know you're not looking to eat or hurt them

We did that when he was a baby.
But after a bit I tried to put him on my shoulder and he literally just bit the inside of my ear and my hands as I tried to get him off. :S
All of us are older in the house too. :S
