All question and answer will be added down below.
(if you want to be anonymous, you can do that via our Tumblr site Fableworld/tumblr) (will be updated every time a new question is asked and when my sister pops in to give her thoughts on the question)
world-of-zekira - As seen on some number of characters (such as those in the image above) many species have markings, or distinctive tattoos.
Are there any punishments for 'faking' a tattoo or marking?
Nightangel ~ the markings or many characters such as myself, are once again made out of magic. the markings of a Wing-elf as myself are directly linked to the magic of the wing-elf(luxtenebris) and those magical markings normally appear on the face, hands/arms, chest/neck, and shoulder or chest. why mine magical marks appear on my face and wriest is unknown even to me. most markings you see on other beings is normally either tattoos or just fur/skin pattern.
Vildtiger ~ the markings on me are from the spirit animal I am cornected to: the tiger, they are merely there to show the animal in me. there are some sentient beings such as the Animalius that at times tattoos extra markings onto their skin just as we does here on earth, so not all markings are for magical uses.
apielang - two sun?
Nightangel ~ yes, Anuvina have two suns called Sunsia and Kantasia. the two suns make the days on Anuvina slightly longer than ours.
UPDATE - after studying a bit more on the difference on sun and stars, I can tell you now that Anuvina only has one sun. the other 'sun' is a star and it does not give warm as the other sun does. this is probably the reason why Anuvina is not a desert area. at the current moment, Anuvina/fableworld has one giant star, one sun, and one moon; a reference to the Time dragons.
MrsLittletall - So, why is their(Red Eyes and Shadow) love illogical? Would you explain their story to me?
Nightangel ~ I won't spoil too much since it will be seen in the Guardians comic.
but I don't actually hide the fact that Red Eyes is a serial killer and shadow is the only one who can 'tame' him.
Aristodes - Do they(Animalius) ever use footwear?
Nightangel ~ no, the anthropomorphic animals called "Animalius" never wear footwear. the closest to footwear you can give them is bracelets.
Vildtiger ~ Animalius does not like to wear footwear of two reasons, one, it feels weird since they have natural walking pads and two, Animalius pride themselves in being a very resilient species and would rather not have any sort of protective wear if they can help it
MrsLittletall - Can he(Junior) even understand the two(Ecantus and Arula)?
(this question was asked in the Guardians comics where an Earth human talks to clearly other world beings)
Nightangel ~ in the comics you will notice that Ecantus(one of the Guardians) bear a black bracelet and in some shot, you will see Junior bear a white bracelet. unlike here, the bracelet Junior has on is not for ID but it is a magic-infused bracelet there make the bearer able to understand all languages(they literally force the brain to translate what others are saying, so it does give new user bit of a headache). Ecantus Bracelet does the same. his is just custom designed. it is mandatory for Guardians to bear them.
MrsLittletall - Well, we know about all this fantastic creatures, but most humans think they are products of imagination. Better explain this
Nightangel ~ I don't have a perfect lore reason WHY Anuvina's creatures are mythological and cryptic creatures we know of from books, stories or songs. I personally did it because I love fantasy and I wanted to make a world for them. that is the best reason I have right now. if you can come up with a Lore why they look like mythological creatures, you are more than welcome to give me a hand
UPDATE - after talking with my sister about this; we both came to the conclusion that the reason why the creature of Anuvina was seen on Earth is that of the portals. pretty much a reverse version of what you see in the first chapter of the Guardians comic. it could happen that in older times that an unfortunate creature run through an unstaple portal and ended up on Earth and that is how they turned into legend. if the creature could get home or not, I think that depended on the myth it was based on.
Aristodes How many children does he(red eyes) have, anyway? These four are just his youngest?
Nightangel ~ Red Eyes or Regshekam and Shadow have a bunch of kids. if I count right they have 9 kids. Flamcon/Lufttiara as the firstborn. Stongary, Icesanni, Eajok as the oldest and they are already moving out of their parents home when the "Guardians" comic begins. Metalta, Viedan, Elektra, and Life are still too young to take care of themselves. Metalta is a teenager though while Life is still a baby. keep in mind that there are almost 80 years time gap between the oldest to the youngest of Red Eyes kids
Aristodes - (this is comment on the image named "with the Youngest) So, is Metaltal doing that thing that cats do to a surface? Like, kneading it or something?
Nightangel ~ no, he is just holding on to his father's neck. if the shadow demons should remind of any animals in real life, it would not be cats...
but fighting dogs. most of Red Eyes behavior is inspired by fighting dogs. Metalta does show a few of the same traits, unfortunately. on the image, he just crawls onto his father's back for fun(like all kids do, I have seen all kind of animal kids do this) and he is holding on to Red Eyes neck since he can't steady himself on Red Eyes head because of horns
sky99hunter - How do you draw the line? with carbon? (ask on one of my traditional drawings)
Nightangel ~ to do the outline of my traditional drawings I use an ink pen called Artline. I usually only the 0,3 or 0,1 pen sized of the collection. the big one to the coloring of eyes or other things there needs to be darker than the rest and the small one as the outline of the character. these types of Inkpen can be found in every book or hobby store and they don't cost an arm and a leg for me. while I at it, I can also tell that the color pencils are also just completely normal pencils you also can find in every store.
sky99hunter - in the first impression(of the Desert Dragon Demon) for me aprece that is based on a saber teeth, would be interesting a dragon with fur, otherwise it is very well proportioned and is very stylized
Nightangel ~ first of all; thank you for liking my original art, it means a lot to me.
okey back to the question; believe it or not, but when I first draw the desert dragon demon I looked after a camel and just gave it a more demonic feature. it probably doesn't look that much like a camel when I think about it. it might will if I ever draw it again.
the second thing you said about the fur thing. the Demon species are a mixed bag with skin type since they are known to have kids with other species. full blood desert dragon demon has fur like mammals but it is not uncommon to see then with scales or small feathers either since as said; they are known to interspecies.
Dragon Demon is not a real dragon though. they are only called dragon demons because of their appearance and commonly interspecies with dragons
MrsLittletall - little Being blessed? So there is a way to obtain it when you are not born with it?
Nightangel ~ yes, there is a way, but it kinda a 1 out of 50 change to get blessed. you have to be blessed by a Time dragon(the kings and queens of Anuvina) which controls the most powerful magic on Anuvina. a good example on Blessed is the Fablesisters(Nightangel and Vildtiger) who are just as many Earthlings as Junior is. both of them are blessed by different Time dragons to get their magic. other Blessed of Fableworld characters is Oliver, Fang Salagin, DragonSilver, Misisina, and Takokono. it is not impossible to be blessed, you just have to be very lucky or know the right people to be blessed by the Time dragons.
Vildtiger ~ if you are a Viniva (a humalin without magic) then there is a chance you will be visited by "the White Stag" and give you a choice to get Wild Magic. that's how I became blessed by the Time Dragon Adnima. but if you want to be blessed by one of the other Time Dragons, then research what they stand for (like Justice, Mercy, Knowledge and Fate) and maybe, you will catch their interest.
@Sugarcole10001 (from Twitter) - Can i ask what you used, like was it on a computer or a tablet, and what software?
Nightangel ~ all of my images are first hand-drawn. I don't own a tablet and I use PaintTool SAI to all of the digital images. to extra effect and to a better background I use Photoshop.
Tetsujin28-go - Who was the biggest Fire Horse recorded?
Nightangel ~ probably a horse named Trojan/Troya or something like that and it was surely a bit over 5 meters tall. but this is just me thinking something up right on the spot, so you guess is as good as mine
MagicSpyglass - do you have any advise for world building?
Nightangel ~ Anuvina (or Fableworld) has always been build up as a planet world, but if you want to avoid making more than one culture/laws/traditions/etc like we do, I suggest you only make your world as an island or a single continent if just have begun on creating your world.
having more than one sentient being also mean you have to think up more than one culture, and how these sentient beings are towards each another. are they hostile to their neighbor or are they in peace? do they share their knowledge or are they isolated from the outside world?, all of that will affect the world as well.
making an island/single continent world building; means you only have to think up a single culture/language and species(unless they share it with more than one sentient species/race).
of course, it depends on how big this island/continent is. if you make your world as the same size as France or Germany. means you don't have to think on many different traditions but if you make it as the same size as US or Africa; you might have to think up more than two or three different traditions/cultures
Vildtiger ~ if you want a legit world then I suggest you only use stereotypes as a base. the world will be boring if all people are the same. you need to think of it as your own country, look at how different we all are but still has a sort of common thing.
also when you build this world of yours, be aware of where you place your people. the area they live in will affect their behavior and culture. you can't have a horse riding nomad people living in a forest, that kind of people would suit better out on a large grassy field. play around with the area you want them in, think how they will use the place to live in best. you need to consider how advanced these people are and what kind of animals is surrounding them. look at real cultures but don't copy/paste it, that will make it feel cheap.
all in all, there is a LOT to think about when building a world. as Nightangel said, best to start with a single country at first. you can always expand it when you have that first place properly built. will take a while but don't be afraid to play around with how this world of yours will look like. it will make it feel more real.
world-of-zekira - do each breed or culture have their own specific naming conventions? Like "always end in -a or -e for female / etc" or "always a word that shows their power/magic"? and which cultures would have what kind if any are known?
Nightangel ~ the first question is a bit hard to answer since that part is mostly just random in Anuvina's culture. at the current moment; Dragons, demons, humans and few other sentient species can have normal names like Liam, Emma, Noah, and Olivia. they mostly do have names there have a meaning behind them. a good example is Ecantus; his name comes from Eucalyptus with do have something to do with part of his personality and element. yes, he has a name after his second element. the one who doesn't have a name after their magic is Arula, which name means " Shining as the Sun" or "Brilliant" in Sanskrit. almost all of the names in Anuvina have something to do with the person itself, a smaller hint of what you can expect of them.
those creatures who do have names linked to their culture is the Werewolf masters, Sliver dragons, and the Magical horses. Werewolf Master only has names there can be seen as morbid or gothic (like Stillborn, Nighteye, and Bloodmoon to name my own OCs), Silver Dragons just have names with either gold or silver in their names, while the Magical horses have names linked to their magical mark. a good example is Sweet Berry who has heart-formed berries as a mark or Clever Clover who has a four-leafed clover.
world-of-zekira - are there any specific places that are radically different in tech level from another part of the world? One of them very science-fiction versus another that's stone age, or like that?
Nightangel ~ most of Anuvina has the same technology thanks to trade by the portals. their technology is very much like ours, a bit more advanced perhaps. so small robots (not humanoid) can be seen. these robots most often have the shape of a fun toy or an animal. this technology is powered on electricity like ours but has to be turned completely off when brought through the portals. the major difference is that Anuvina does not have cars, planes or even bikes. they have little to no need thanks to the portals (portals destroy any turned on electronics) and making such vehicles will be very tricky thanks to the many size difference between the sentient species. Anuvina does not have stairs as well, again because of the many sizes and they hurt dragons and horses feet. Fantosia and Backland are the places with most technology since they are the one who mass-produces most of Anuvina's technology.
Primolis and Sikane have chosen to live more with nature and so it's a bit rare see the big technology there, they still have small things to make life easier but that's about it.
world-of-zekira - what are your restrictions on gender expression and sexual / romantic preference?
Nightangel ~ the pronouncement of male and female is what we already is familiar with. for those who see themselves as both genders is called ze/zim/zis. the use of "Them" and "It" is only used against animal.
there is none. unlike here; Anuvina has no rules against who you love and all of that. this little culture feat happens because of the demons and the spirit creatures who is known to marry/have children with other species. these two species culture spread to other culture through the years until anyone on Anuvina lives under this culture. although the line between love and sex differ from country to country.
people on Sikane only have sex with their own race but they can love another race entirely. Demons can have multiple lovers who they have sex with. while the Genie and Jinn only 'love' others to have sex and outspring, and this is to name some of my head.
the main sexuality on Anuvina is Bisexual.
I also did this due to IF people want to ship some of the sentient beings on Anuvina with each other, they can do it without having any restrictions.
world-of-zekira - why he(kantas) looks like that as a Human? Kantas' human form looks pretty similar(to Hanrig), with the hair style and coloration.
Nightangel ~ Kantas human form looks eerily like a more muscular and groomed Hanrig. Hanrig was special for Kantas and he only took this human form after Hanrig's death.
@stormstick - I have a feeling Cooper Junior is still a little too young to understand somethings, right?
Nightangel ~ John Cooper Junior is young but I don't think, he is under the age of 13 years. Junior or just Jun is created to be a reader-inset character to those who are unfamiliar to the world me and my sister are making. he is pretty much around to show the emotions of the ones who read the Guardians comic. Jun's personality is still that of confusion and wonder due to the fact that is what I gained by reading the comment section of each page. his personality might change with time if the comment section changes its 'personality' too.
DaOneTrueJollyJoe - Do Firehorses have Kelpie equivalents?
Nightangel ~ yes and no.
fire horse is a race for itself like the Unicorn and Pegasus is. the Kelpie is part of the Jotun race of house which is predatory horses.
it is possible for a young fire horse and a Kelpie to breed but it is incredibly rare since the Kelpie once again; is a meat-eating horse.
there is a higher chance that the Kelpie would eat the Fire horse than to breed with it.
the rare times it does happen; the Kelpie/fire horse foul would be a pretty big horse with a nasty temper and loves to lay down in the water. they will not turn as big as Fire horses and would not either look have the taste of meat as the Kelpie.
C0MMD3R - What inspired you to draw?
Nightangel ~ that is a very good question.
the thing is. my sister and I always draw things from what I mother told us. we just never stopped as some do. what inspired me to drawing what I do today is a longer story, but the gist of it is was I saw the Legoland mascot Ollie when I was seven years old and since then, I have been hooked on fantasy.
there are also other things over the years which have kept the passion going but that is how it started.
Vildtiger ~ we probably drew before, but as I can remember, sis and I really went all in with fantasy after a trip to Legoland, where we saw the park's mascot, a little green dragon. the park sparked our imagination and ever since we have been deeply fascinated in anything fantasy. of course, other things, such as dinosaur and certain video games helped along, and many of our current characters stem from the many games we played as children. we don't play anymore, but the imagination is still there.
