0.9 is here (finally!) The biggest change is one that will be more fully explored in the future...The player can now fight multiple enemies at once! Huzzah!

I've been working on a small, text-based dungeon crawler with Female Muscle Growth themes and rogue-like gameplay. I'm going to keep rolling updates whenever I feel like I've done enough to justify putting a notification in people's inboxes.
The premise: You are a young woman from a village built over some powerful magic bullshit. It's possible to draw power from those magics, but other, nastier things than people like to do that too, so it's pretttty dangerous. You are the one woman chosen this year to brave the depths and try her luck! Overcome, and you'll come back a goddess amongst men. Fail and...well. Don't fail.

Since this is still early in development, I'm fully expecting that there may be bugs. That's fine; report them here or on Discord. If you have any suggestions or feedback for the game, don't hesitate to post that as well!

Last thing. I want to make this project open source. If anyone wants the development-side files so they can modify them in Twine, just ask, give credit, and make sure to share alike with others as I shared to you, and I'll hand them over.

Glad you're back working on this project again, hope you doing fine in this tough time. Okay, so I tried the new version and found that Drowmazon and Siren didn't give exp at all while Giant Spider only gives exp if the player chose to confront it. If it ambushed you, the fight didn't give exp. When in shopkeeper, if you have many item you want to sell, you can't scroll down thus you can't get out from there. Meaning you get stuck unless you sell all of your item until the menu choices pop up again, which is really inconvenient.

The bug with no XP being gained should be fixed now. I had an old flag that was set when the player was ambushed, to prevent the ambusher's attack being repeated if they went in or out of menus, but that's been made redundant now since the menus pop out instead of being their own pages. So, just needed to kill off the obsolete flag check in the XP function. Thanks for the specific info about the spider's ambush, really helped me track down what would otherwise have been a huge pain!

Thanks for the fix. I encounter another error when the player tried to befriended Drowmazon. I'm not familiar with the coding world so I'm just gonna write what it says, "<>: bad evaluation: missing) after argument list". And also Siren didn't give exp after the player reached a certain level, I only tested it two times so I don't know if this was just a minor bug or not.Β

Huh, yeah, that is an odd and new bug. I'll see if I can track it down today.

The shop thing might be able to be fixed if I can put the items into 'stacks' rather than individual slots. That would have the added benefit of making things cleaner while fixing the shop error.

FYI, tried it out today, playing far enough to get all the strength descriptions (which IIRC was like 30ish for the hourglass and 17ish for the bottom heavy?), but noticed one bug: selling stuff to the shopkeeper usually either didn't give me any money, or gave me the wrong amount (as in 5 instead of 3, or 5 instead of 7).

I found the issue! It was an order-of-operations thing. See, whenever the game was making the list to display, it would check the items' prices in order to list them out. And when you confirmed a sale, it also checked the price in order to pay you. But selling the item ALSO caused the game to re-load the list, minus the item you sold...which meant checking the prices. And it can only 'hold' one price at a time, so to speak. So, I think it was paying you based on the most recent item it remembered - that being the bottom item of your inventory, if my intuition is correct.

Regardless, I'll upload the fix within the next few minutes. Thanks for the catch!

To be very open about it, I lost a sibling to suicide. I'm OK, but it does tend to have a draining effect on one's plans.

I do plan on more updates. I'm not sure when, but by January stuff should be back underway for sure (or else pole me about it.)

There needs to be something that makes you better at "barrelling forward" in the goblin encounter. Kinda odd that no matter how powerful she gets, it always does 2-5 damage...

Also, if you wrap the macro for each radio button with a plain old Β tag, it will make the button text part of the clickable control, making it easier to use.

Yeh, I'm honestly not sure why I added that option. I think I was thinking super far ahead and was like: 'Well, what if they WANT the damage? They shouldn't be punished for a high Awareness!' But that's pretty dumb, lol. If I ever implement something that works better on low HP, I'll just add some option to voluntarily shunt HP out of combat.

All that is to say, not sure how I'd improve it, so I might just get rid of it...

(Also also, depression is the worst kids, don't get depressed you'll never want to work on things ever gahhhh)

Of course, that may require some kind of natural-armor/absorption/damage-soaking mechanic... perhaps something along the lines of 1 point damage negation per 10 or so strength? idk, just a thought that it would be fun to laugh at the puny goblin traps

Well, when I first saw the option, what I was expecting is that choosing to brazenly walk through the trap should certainly intimidate the goblin more... and, as I suspect many others were also thinking, I figured that as she gets stronger it would do LESS damage, eventually becoming immune to it entirely. Surely I can't be the only one looking for a bit of an invulnerability power trip in these games


If someone wants to have low HP, they do have options (bone blast, for example)... perhaps other things like that? Or maybe, have an option to cast when it is dangerous to do so... for example the strain from recasting the strength or agility buffs while the cooldown was active? (perhaps it could cost some HP, based on how many rounds were left? Perhaps even on a triangular scale, 1=1, 2=3, 3=6, 4=10, 5=15, 6=21...)



(GotΒ schizoaffective m'self, with a spritz of ADHD & OCD... such a fun combination S-A is mild, but lifelong bipolar, coupled with delusions often in the form of a savior complex. Never thought I was the second coming or such rubbish, but I did go through high school thinkin' I'as some sort of John Connor, and expectin' the world to end any day...

Anyway, on up days I have a ton of ambition and hope, and a hair trigger/zero patience for things going wrong; seriously, I've flipped out over a stubbed toe on those days.

On down days (far more common, but which I seem to be able to counteract/mitigate with enough B12 and energy drinks/caffeine) I have no energy, but am only mildly annoyed when invariably everything seems to go wrong... at that point it was pretty much expected.

I obsess on completing projects, or at least leaving them open/in-progress, because when I close them I have an extremely hard time getting back to them; yet this doesn't stop me from starting other projects or getting distracted online. So my np++, for example, is 20 tabs on HardLife old-UI branch; 3 tabs of new-UI branch; 8 tabs of the CMS and experimental web-framework components for the site; and a couple more for planning/notes. And that's just the stuff I'm working on in that program...

I've been trying really hard this last year to keep my focus on developing the game, even on the days where I have absolutely no inspiration, but the sheer scope of the project still feels pretty overwhelming... especially as the plans for it grow far faster than I can code and refactor the systems.

I know you're in a different place right now in life, but I've been clinging to the end of my rope for awhile now... and even though I doubt I have the strength left to climb up very far, I'm just too damned stubborn to let go. So let's keep pushing this stone uphill and maybe, just maybe it won't roll back down the next time we rest.
