Description

Picture of my Tudor gown taken outside an anime con. Actually it was raining outside and already getting dark, the ground was wet and I didn't want to get my dress even more soaked (when I went down stairs it would make a lout smack-sound on each step ). So I wasn't even posing and the very nice and kind photographer Lichtformer told me "Imma just take a few test pics okay, no worries" yeah and then this came out.

I really like it, though it's not very in-character, but meh, you can see the dress!

Also, funfact: my sleeves are very wide and I can put stuff in there. When I entered the con the security checked my torso (which is totally flat thanks to the tudor corset, no chance to hide anything except a tissue maybe), but not the sleeves. Seriously, I could have taken like 10 large cans of beer in there.

Here is a portrait picture with more info on how I made the dress: www.deviantart.com/factitioust…

That's a wonderful outfit, and I'm very impressed with the attention to detail, particularly the embroidery. The rather dismal weather give it a great atmosphere, too!

I'm always amused by the number of ways in which it's possible to hide things in historic clothing...

Thank you so much! I love putting little details and symbolics all over the place. Often I plan an outfit rather simplistic so I might use it for different characters, but I like personalising everything so much I always throw that idea overboard as I add more and more personal detail.

Yeah, and they had very practical solutions back then! Looking at pretty much nonexistant pockets in women's clothing I really miss that aspect of practicality. :/

Small details like that give so much life and character to an outfit!

Yes, that's what I love about it.
