Description Decided to do a MAJOR overhaul on them!
I never actually knew what i wanted the first time; just some monster, and admittedly i was a bit lazy before
So i'm redoing this and most of the other gods as well, and am looking into refining The Trial of the Gods here soon
Going through a rough patch right now, so this is all i got.

Please enjoy!
---------------

The Gatekeeper is a Marvel character from the comics, whom i've redone in my own image and am using in a major arc.
My version of them varies greatly from their origins.

I do not own Marvel or the gods depicted in cultural stories.

~~The Gatekeeper~~

This monstrous entity's origins are not well known.
Genderless, it is thought that they emerged from somewhere in the sea, but even the Egyptians were beside themselves.
Priests who tried to communicate with The Gatekeeper were shunned almost instantly, but not before being momentarily terrorized by their hideous arachnid face and single, glowing eye.

The Gatekeeper seemed to always be in the presence of spiders, and had the mysterious ability to command and speak with them.
Seeking to establish their place in the universe, they sought out Phobis and insisted on coming to the Loomworld to be a part of the multiverse.
Sensing the Great Spirit had divine plans for them, she agreed, letting The Gatekeeper into her realm.

The Gatekeeper is a mysterious and terrifying entity who resides in the Web of Life.
They are constantly reaching through the multiverse, traveling, hardly recognizable as any one species, including arachnid (minus their head).
Their purpose is to choose vessels worthy enough to receive arachnid powers.
Due to the delicate nature of their ability to grant such great gifts, The Gatekeeper has remained elusive and nearly impossible to find or contact for as long as they've been around.
This has not been easy in any universe, but they're determined.
Ultimately, being unreachable keeps the multiverse protected from their powers, which are too great to be harnessed in excess.

The Gatekeeper is so elusive, they only revealed themselves to a handful of groups of people to build them a temple in the Dead Sea soon after their arrival on Earth.
Once their task was complete, those people were never heard from or seen again.
There are varying legends as to their disappearance, ranging from a cursed death to heavenly ascension.
In reality, those people were transformed into several thousand spiderlings that now work under The Gatekeeper's command.
They are treated as their children.

As the one who grants such power, The Gatekeeper is always keeping tabs on the ones they give powers to.
That's a lot of observation and responsibility.
In order to maintain some balance, The Gatekeeper has made sure their powers come exceedingly rarely to every Earth.
Decades, even centuries may pass between a passing of power to a mortal, but they always deliver when they sense the time is right.
It's under a very certain and delicate circumstance that The Gatekeeper chooses a mortal, and it is because of this pickiness and precision that they have a flawless record of good people wearing the mantle of "Spider."
Any time a new spider-person emerges, they always prove to be the best of their generation.

~~Personality~~

The Gatekeeper is virtually impossible to read.
They're generally in a neutral mindset, but are easily offended by those who challenge or threaten them.
As an ethereal giant and a god, only an absolute moron would dare challenge them and hope to conquer.
But even with this, one must keep in mind that The Gatekeeper serves the greater good, and has more than earned their rights to privacy and a little pride.

They're a being of few words, but when they speak, it's a terrifying, androgynous voice.
Even when they mean well, they are frightening to most.
Their voice sounds like a blend of male and female voices overlapped.

~~Physiology~~

The Gatekeeper's most drawing feature is the massive eye in the middle of their face.
It has no lids, and thus never closes, as The Gatekeeper can never sleep; they must always be watching.

The Gatekeeper has a mouth and can rawr (hideously), but they speak through telepathy.
Their body sports crab-like legs, and an entire spider serves as their head.

The blue patterns on their body constantly fluctuate, never set in stone or sanctioned to one part of the body.

~~Magical Prowess~~

The Gatekeeper's greatest ability is that of command over a legion of spiders, as well as the ability to command any natural spider.
Solid black, basic spider spirits (the former builders of the Dead Sea temple) seem to always be at their side, waiting to either attack an opponent, give someone knowledge, or lead them somewhere important.

The more famous ability, of course, is that of blessing a mortal being with amazing spider-based abilities.
Each one chosen is given unique powers in contrast to other "spider-people," though many end up with some of the same basic ones, and some will mutate more or less than others.

~~Preference~~

They're asexual, not even possessing genitals.
