You practically threw yourself through your front door when you got home that day. You could’ve sworn you heard footsteps walking behind you when you were walking from school. You’ve been edgy all day after you read that stupid letter you found in your locker.
“Sweetheart, is that you?” you hear your mother’s voice from the kitchen.
“Yes, it’s me, mom,” you answer, heaving heavy breaths.
“Did you have a bad day?” she asks.
“Y-Yeah,” you answer, “That’s one way to put it…”
As you walk into the dining room and set your book bag on the floor, you take a seat and lay your head on the table, exhausted.
“What’s the matter, _________?” your mother asks, sitting next to you and putting a hand on your back.
“You’ll think it’s silly if I say it.”
“I’m certain it’s not silly at all.”
“Well… mom, I think someone’s stalking me.”
“What on earth makes you think you’re being stalked?”
You reach into your pocket and place the pink slip of paper on the table. Your mother picks it up and starts to read the letter.
“Dearest _________,” she begins reading, “You probably have no idea who I am, but I’ve liked you for quite some time. I know you probably don’t think of yourself as much, but you mean the entire world to me. I’ve watched you as you went throughout your day at school, I’ve watched you walk home every night, I’m even watching you right now…”
“I found that in my locker…” you mutter.
“_________, this is probably just some prank someone’s pulling.”
“How do you know?” you ask, lifting your head from the table.
“Have you ever seen or felt someone stalking you before reading this letter?”
“Well… no,” you answer.
“Then someone’s just pulling your leg! Relax!”
“Are you positive, mother?”
“I’m positive,” your mother replies, giving you a hug.
“Thanks, mom,” you say, hugging her back.
“That being said, I have a surprise for you!”
“What is it?”
Your mother reaches a hand into her pocket, taking out two tickets.
“After dinner tonight, we’re going to that recital!”
“Really!?” you say with a large smile.
“Yup!”
“Oh, thank you, mom!” you hug her again.

“And that was Jonathan Thompson with Ode to Joy!” the announcer spoke.
You and your mother were at a recital for young musicians. It was being held at an old church, and you were dressed in a (color) dress and matching coat, sitting next to your mother up in the front row. As the music went on, you began to calm down. The letter was practically forgotten by the time it was time for the final performance.
“Now before we end to tonight, I just want to say…” the woman in charge of the whole thing was just about to end the recital, when she was suddenly handed a slip of paper from another man in the front row. Curiosity got the better of you and you look at the man who handed her the paper as the woman was reading it. He had brown hair which was neatly combed back, save for a single cowlick protruding from the front of his hairline, violet eyes with glasses in front of them, and was in an indigo coat with a white frilly neckpiece. The man seems to notice your gaze and looks back at you, smiling… lovingly.
Was this… no, it couldn’t be…
“Well, ladies and gentlemen,” the announcer speaks in a nervous tone, “It seems we have one more performance! Someone here would like to perform for us an original composition, inspired by someone here in the audience… one… _________ _________?”
The sound of your name from the announcer sends a frightening chill up your spine.
“I… I’m _________ _________...” you whisper to yourself.
“Well, everyone… please remain seated,” the announcer said almost desperately, “As Roderich Edelstein performs for us… ‘For The Girl of One Thousand Years,’”
With that, the man in indigo gets up to the grand piano, and begins to play. The piece he performed was beautiful… hauntingly so. It was unlike anything you had heard, and nearly caused tears to form in your eyes. However, the tears that did show were tears of fear. He was the one who sent you that letter… he was your stalker… and you couldn’t even think of what to do, except stay seated and listen to his performance.
Soon, the performance ends, and the audience applauds. A nudge in your side by your mother gets you out of your frozen state, and you clap along with the rest of the crowd. Roderich gets up and bows to the audience, giving you another loving gaze. As the crowd clears out, you get up and walk up to the announcer. As it turns out, the note that was handed to her was a threat that Roderich had a gun on him, and that if he wasn’t allowed to perform that song, he’d kill her then and there.
This man truly was crazy for you… and as far as you knew, it was only a matter of time before you were his victim…
