Description This spider came right up and climbed on this frog mid-shot. And sat there quite comfortably for a few more! I'm not sure of the spider type, but I believe the frog is a Narrow-mouth frog, often mistaken for a toad.

Thanks! Gators are almost as fun to take pics of as dragonflies, I think

Thank you! Frogs are rare around here so I'm always happy to get a shot of one.

did the frog eat the spider after you took the photo?

Nope! The spider crawled off, and then the frog hopped away a moment later.

Probably not xD and there's easier prey than spiders. I've seen dragonflies land on frogs too and they don't usually go for those either.

that could be...but I see frogs and toads grab anything that moves when they are hungry...they used to come on our patio at night when I was a child to eat bugs etc...and we could through any small item down (a little wad of paper or whatever) ...and they would grab it..and swallow it...I don't think that that spider would have escaped from them.

Yeah probably not. Usually frogs ignore stuff if they're not hungry though. We had some giant cuban treefrogs that sat on our garage lights (I may have some pics of them) and they would happily ignore a ton of good food because they were already stuffed. Then again they had the best seat for all the moths that floated around the lights, plus other bugs. So he probably wasn't hungreh.

I notice that you are in Florida...me too...I looked when you mentioned the Cuban frogs..I don't think we have them in Miami...we do have the poison toads that you should keep your dogs away from...they are not native, but I am not sure from where they came.

Which, those giant marine toads? I think those were imported to kill bugs that were eating crops... something like that.

It's actually kind of unusual for us to see those Cuban treefrogs. I'm in Palm Coast, which is more Northern than they like to go usually. But we still had two who practically lived on our porch for months which was pretty cool.

I am not sure what kind of toads...they are quite large when grown..and if you rub them, the poison comes out of their skin...I will research it..I am going by what I hear only...I have seen them, but don't know much more about them.

If I found out more..I'll let you know.

:I What a horrible thing XD It's rather interesting that the spider was comfortable enough to crawl onto the froggy, but ugh. Spiders. XD

Aw, I think they're alright...except when they come into my house 8| then they're fair game for getting the smackdown.

Wolf spider, but it's a juvenile, so the frog's fine. The spider's mouth isn't big enough to do anything, and because the spider crawled on the frog, that means it probably has no intention of biting the frog. Usually spiders bite because they're scared or to kill prey, this spider has no reason to bite the frog.

You're right. Neither one of the creatures tried to bite/kill each other. The spider crawled away after a few moments.

Naah the spider got bored and crawled off, then the frog hopped away...would've been interesting if the frog hopped with the spider on him.

Nah I think he & the frog were being lazy. No one got bitten or eaten that day 8P. Also yes, I think he may be a wolf spider and thanks. Not so good with identifying spiders.
