Description If you're following this series in order, click here next .

Okay, so maybe only a few of you are surprised at this development. Lots of people saw it coming. The fact that the roses from pages 3 and 4 have turned into tendrilinguis plants suggests that this sequence we're viewing is probably not real--well, considering that the sequence shows Avora clothed and free and conscious, the fact merely supports the idea.

Rachel Jacobi was creative and gracious enough to pose and photograph herself for Maladyne's image. My impression of Rachel is that she is exceptionally expressive, both in photography and in painting. You can check out her gallery to see the paintings and some photographs, but I really hope I can do her personal stock images justice in the upcoming pages...

Enjoy!

Maladyne: *Ahem*!
Tendrillingus: Oh, gosh, right, the whole restrain thing, gotcha *leaps out*

That about sums up the way I was looking at this image as I drew it. "'A rose by any other name would smell as sweet'... but it might have tentacles and try to do you in, too..."

Alternative title: "Gah?!"
What a nasty jack-in-the-box THAT is.

Avora looks great, body, expression and clothing, and Sorcy is nicely intent.

I wish I could say I'd un-densed about what's really going on BEFORE studying the other comments and your responses to them, but alas.
I told you I wasn't very good at analysing art . . .

Erm, I wish I could think of something more profound or entertaining to say about this piece, but I'm tired and my brainpower is waiting on the other side of an eight-hour nap.

Yes, well one would expect poor Avi to have such nasty dreams. After all, Daddy Plant is unforgettable, or so say all his "dates". Fear not Avi! When you wake up there will be no evil plan tendrils to restrain you! You'll be safe... in the tight, unforgiving embrase of stout rope, lots of it, and a nice fat gag :evilplotting:.(over the mouth? Pleeeeeaze!!![puppy eyes]).

So, I'm guessing that whoever captured her is purposely messing with her mind, that it's not just a ordinary dream/nightmare.

Hmm, you weren't using JA's face as a model earlier with Avora, were you? Her face looks quite different now than in the earlier panels with her. Since a number of people have commented on this, are you sure you want to keep this model (JA); isn't it somewhat distracting?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

faile35 In reply to HungryCats [2007-05-04 21:16:52 +0000 UTC]

I did use JA for some of the Twisted Plot pictures. [link] [link] [link] and [link] in Twisted Plot, and most of Avora's pages in Fair Harvest. So, yes, I'll stick with her when I can. All of the characters will change somewhat in the course of the story, I'm afraid, although the later ones (from Callista onward) will probably be a bit more consistent considering I'm going to stick to a single stock model for their images.

The nature of the dream/nightmare/whatnot will be more apparent in a bit.

Thanks!

HungryCats In reply to faile35 [2007-05-05 03:14:15 +0000 UTC]

Well, I can see why no one noticed the similarity in Twisted Plot; Avora was pretty busy being undressed and plant-ravished at the time.

faile35 In reply to HungryCats [2007-05-05 03:25:50 +0000 UTC]

It will be less obvious the longer this chapter goes, since Avora's face will be distorted and concealed a little bit.

I like the composition very much, but in the fullsize view and in comparison to your usual style Avoras face looks IMHO a little to cartoony (Her eyes look quite surreal).

But considering this is a dream sequence, it works.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

faile35 In reply to nosdregamon [2007-05-04 21:44:07 +0000 UTC]

Chalk that up to scanning and a wariness of getting her face too dark. The original picture looks a bit rougher and more realistic than that (but not much). Thanks!

pissiMissi [2007-05-04 10:34:00 +0000 UTC]

Maladyne's expression is great. Poor Avora, hasn't she been traumatized enough? The venom from Daddy Flower or the muck she was fed must create horrible dreams.

As always, I can't wait to see more.

faile35 In reply to pissiMissi [2007-05-04 21:47:49 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! You bring up a great point: The toxin that was forced into her by the sleeper's bane plant probably would contribute some rather bizarre neuro-chemical impulses...

"Traumatized enough?" I quote Chucky the Killer Doll: "Ain't no such thing."

Okay, well, there is such thing, but we haven't reached it yet, apparently...

I didn't comment on the last few pages not because I didn't like them, but because with so many pages that are connected, they all share the same atmosphere, techniques, sometimes also expressions, that I can't say anything constructive on EVERY page. This one, however, contains some brilliant expressions. I love the immense look of shock. I'm not sure what kind of expression the right chick has, but I like it. I guess it's a little bit of shock, but still quite neutral because she knew what to expect. Really great work.

Thanks! I'll take whatever comments you can give, when you can give them. If you feel redundant, don't worry about it. Genuine interaction on one out of five is probably preferable to constant parroting comments. Of course, I don't mind parrots, either.
