Ooo, I love the design, unusual in the world of starships, usually it's all knife-prows or round "Covenant style" ships.

What did you use to "build" this model? It looks very cool.

This is such a strange-looking vessel, you have most certainly succeeded with an original design.

Have you ever seen the "Hammerhead" Aerospace fighter from Space: Above and Beyond? For some reason, it reminded me of some of those vessels.

great design. I had the idea for a hammerhead style ship before but i never got very far in designing it.

there is simply so much that can be done with the hammerhead layout. why dont you pick up the old one and give it another visit?

I really love this design, its quirky, funky.

I would put turrets either side of the cylinder nose section.

Its unique design origonal, the sort of thing i'd design thats wy i like it.

Favourite.

there are turrets on either side of the cylynder nose section, they are just really big.

glad to please tho, with the amount of respect i have for your work the compliments are that much more appreciated!!! and the fact that you name specific likes, not jsut a general statement

Nice job on this one, I got your notes too. I'll have to experiement with that technique on the NSS strike cruiser.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

failurecrusade In reply to K1092000 [2006-01-09 02:47:48 +0000 UTC]

actualy to get to know the technique it would be better to simply do it with no intent rather than trying to actually make one of your ships, its better to experiment simply to test the method than it is to start a ship and be dissapointed. just try to find applications for the tools and then apply those tools to other ships.

also did you get the model i sent you?

Well I took a look at it, I haven't messed with it yet, just scoped out some of the settings you used. I probably won't have time to mess around with it till this weekend. In the material browser I saw something a little different from what I've been doing. Especially the one sphere with the multi colors. So how do you make sure those colors get onto the right parts?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

failurecrusade In reply to K1092000 [2006-01-10 03:52:36 +0000 UTC]

multi sub object material (click the button that says standard in the material editor), and assign the material id#'s to various polygon selections.

most of those settings should help you out quite a bit.

K1092000 In reply to failurecrusade [2006-01-12 01:34:40 +0000 UTC]

ok, I shall try that.

failurecrusade In reply to K1092000 [2006-01-12 02:05:28 +0000 UTC]

wish there were a more simple way to explain/demo the process, look at the materials o nthe ship i sent you that should give you an idea

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

K1092000 In reply to failurecrusade [2006-01-12 02:10:54 +0000 UTC]

ok, I'll do that. Looking at an example should help me.

K1092000 In reply to failurecrusade [2006-01-12 02:58:46 +0000 UTC]

you can learn alot from samples. Then applying those things you learned to the models makes them turn out better.

the best a man can get
good work on it man, maybe it looks less like a razor if you put some extrusions at the back (wings/guns)
great looking though

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

failurecrusade In reply to 4G0NY [2006-01-08 22:56:40 +0000 UTC]

i think the only way it owuld look less like a razor if i balanced the froward and aft mass...but then the ship would look like crap

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

4G0NY In reply to failurecrusade [2006-01-08 23:13:56 +0000 UTC]

what if you extrude the edgy extrusions at the back a bit more?

DanSylveste [2006-01-08 09:07:44 +0000 UTC]

actually the first thing that popped into my head when i saw this was a Vacuum Cleaner! very original design though...
hmmm... if you looks at it a little, it looks more like a one-man veichle of some sort. maybe if you made it purple it could be a Covenant veichle concept for Halo 3!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

failurecrusade In reply to DanSylveste [2006-01-08 20:57:45 +0000 UTC]

i think the turrets spoil the small one man deal. i can see the vacume cleaner shape as well, kinda like the little dustdevil handhelds.

You know, if you situated the boosters on the 'hammer head' section in the front it'd make for a unique design even still.

Looks fast though. Good work.
