He writes on white sheetsThat tangle themselves on my skin.
His words that are written,
The sad words that are written,
Exploding in my head.
I want to beg him to stop,
This dread is making my ears pop,
But I know if I do, he'll shut right up.
He'll push himself away,
Just wish himself away,
From everything he's got.
I pull on his hand,
Even though I promised not to.
I'll show him there's faith,
I promise there's faith,
Even when there's no land to stand on.
I'll fake through my smiles,
So his will shine true...
And when they do, mine will too,
Because that just how we do.
Just tell me what to do.
And when he starts to worry,
About being brought down,
He can run away from me.
I know he'll run far from me.
I'll take it with good grace,
It's a thing I've learned to brace.
Love truth and pardon error,
All the error he may have made.
And give him a chance to make a mistake....
