Ahh, the beautiful Shinobu Kocho! Sweet as she is deadly! Shinobu is an expert in poisons and pharmaceuticals, her swords are coated in deadly wisteria poison she had concocted herself! 💜🦋✨

What I love about Shinobu is her passive aggressive personality haha, you never know whether what comes out of her mouth is sincere or sarcastic lmao. Her words can sound super sweet but has an underlayer of poison.

But, it took one whiff from Tanjiro to realize and bring out her true personality — a woman who, despite seeming cheerful and sweet on the oustide, is actually brimming with deep hurt and anger on the inside.

Shinobu’s story is a sad one. After her older sister was killed by a demon, her sister’s last words to her were to always keep smiling. But for Shinobu, it was tough to do. She tried to smile everyday. But, in the end she carried immense hurt and anger for many years, while faking a smile everyday so that at least she can fulfill her sister’s last wishes somewhat, even if it wasn’t a genuine one. Shinobu’s anger is valid, because her sister was killed. The death of a loved one is not easy to move on from. She channelled all of her hurt and anger into each demon she kills.

Her sister’s other last words were that she had a dream to see if humans and demons can be friends. But for Shinobu, she cannot understand her sister’s compassion. How can demons and humans be friends? Demons kill humans. She had no hope. Until she saw Tanjiro and his sister-turned-demon Nezuko. Tanjiro, who, despite his sister being turned into a demon, was still willing to protect her and help her. There must be a reason, right?

Seeing the bond and love that Tanjiro and Nezuko share, and seeing that Nezuko still retained her humanity despite being turned into a demon, she entrusted her sister’s dream unto Tanjiro to fulfill, something she knows she herself will never be able to do.

And until the very last end as well.
