So this is the first time Tara met Danny in person. Let's just say that Danny got late because of a ghost attack and Mr. Lancer made him partner up with the 'new kid', just when he was about a couple of steps from his ghost sense went off.

Even though Tara's doesn't really claritify as a 'halfa' she can actually get caught on ecto detector or something, and that includes Danny's ghost sense.
