Ah, the blossoms in the springtime. There are lots of beautiful flowers to take pictures of. You are nice and close up. You can certainly see the details in the petals and the other parts of the flowers, which is good. It’s hard to get too close in these types of pictures. The background is nicely out of focus too, and that is something else that you have done well. In macro photography you are always trying to balance out the shallow depth of field while keeping the subject matter in focus.

There are a couple of things you should look at working on the next time you try this. The first thing that I noticed when I looked at your work is the sky coming through the tree. It is so bright, the flowers, which are your subject, are overwhelmed by the background. I think that if you shot into a darker background; rather than into the sky, the image would have been more effective. The second thing that I notice is that there are so many flowers here, that my eyes keep looking around. If you could get your camera a bit closer and focus just on a few flowers and try to throw everything else out of focus, your image would be even more effective.

Wonderful colours and I really like the light shining through in the background

I think the colors are really nice! Suites the delicateness of the flowers. Only crit I'd give would be that personally I would've focused a little closer, but since you said this is the first time properly using the macro, I'll let that go.
