Description Map of the Republic of Georgia from the "Era Nacionalcomunista" universe.

In the spring of 1918, there was a short-lived period of the Transcaucasian Federation, which separated the South Caucasus from the Russian Empire, and later this federation disintegrated. On May 26, 1918, the independence of the Georgian Democratic Republic was proclaimed. The builders of the new Georgian statehood were the Mensheviks led by Noah Jordania, who gained support among the Georgian population due to their patriotic rhetoric. In June, a German corps arrived here from the Crimea, which defended the independence of Georgia from the Bolsheviks and Ottoman ambitions and at the same time silenced separatist sentiments in Abkhazia. Subsequently, in November, German influence was replaced by British.
Thanks to military and financial aid and the conclusion of a military-political agreement with Armenia, which also voluntarily transferred the Borchalinsky District to Georgia, Georgia was able to defeat the Turkish Kemalists near Trabzon in the fall of 1920 and repel the 1920-1921 winter invasion of the Bolsheviks from Azerbaijan and RSFSR. Against this background, Georgia receives certain territorial possessions.
In the interwar period, Georgia was a democratic unitary republic against the background of other states. Mensheviks were continuously in power in Tbilisi, and they constantly won elections. At the same time, problems related to regional separatism were growing in the country, which was especially evident in Abkhazia, where units of the left-wing radical nationalist organization "Free Abkhazia" operated underground. In 1933, unknown Abkhazian extremists unsuccessfully attempted an assassination attempt on
Valiko Jugheli, the country's Minister of Internal Affairs, in Sukhum. Since then, the influence of the power bloc began to grow in the country. A repressive action was launched against the alleged initiators of the future undermining of stable orders in the form of Abkhaz, Ossetian separatists and left-wing radical elements. Against the background of these processes, General Kvinitadze stood out, who was nicknamed the "Abkhaz devil" among the common people, for his particularly cruel treatment of the non-Georgian population in the north-west of the country.
At the end of the 1930s, the influence of more nationalist forces in Georgian politics began to grow, while the influence of the Mensheviks and other liberal forces decreased.
