Phiro the pepper wolf's official character sheet for The Prayer Fulfilled. She's a cute pup and damn hard to draw.

Pepper wolves are lanky creatures, with long muzzles, long tails, narrow bodies, deep chests, large paws and sharp claws which do not rectract, though pepper wolves are closely related to glacier wolves. They are officially considered the fastest creatures on Rimer, but only because it's impossible to clock the speed of an elven horse. (But elven horses use magic when they run, so pepper wolves deserve the title really, since they aren't cheating. ) Pepper wolves can maintain full speed for up to an hour and hunt in small packs.

The one with Phiro grinning open-mouthed is so excellent!! Those are so hard to do, I'm very impressed.

She's a pretty canid-critter, and I like how you call out the details that make her different. (I probably should do that for my fox-guys, assuming I ever get them consistent, mumble.)

I was actually considering making that face of hers into a new avatar, since this one is starting to annoy me. It just seems very puppy-ish and loving to me, like the look she'd give her dad.

Thanks pepper wolves are really hard to draw sometimes, because I basically have to make them look like cheetahs in dog bodies.

Phiro is so adorable! You really get her puppyishness down well. Question: Her surname. I know the first part would be from her father, the second from her mother. Kayli is her adoptive mother, thus 'Spring.' Who does she get 'High,' from?

'High' comes from Anuli, who doesn't have a surname (pepper wolves don't use them) and it refers to how as a mortal, he protected the High Khur of Kanau (basically the king kiri) as a body guard. Because of his statis as a mortal as such, he was thought of as an honourary High Blood, despite the fact that he wasn't a kiri. Thanks for the great question I'll try to explain it it better detail in the comic.

The way I practice is just scribbling random expressions... sometimes I try to draw the expression I currently have, which seems to work really well.

I noticed a while ago that when I'm drawing an expression, I unconsciously mimic that expression on my face

I do that in lifedrawing sometimes on purpose 'cus I'm bored. Lots of weird stuff happens in lifedrawing...
