Has anyone ever noticed how cute horses are? Yeah. They're flipping adorable.

Haha, so I've been watching a LOT of horse racing lately (referencing how animals move for animation) and today I just happened to watch a clip of Mine That Bird winning the Kentucky Derby and I just loved the victory pose of his jockey so much I just had to draw it. (This isn't either of them though. Just random happy/winning jockey and his adorable noble steed.) So, anyway, every week we have to do a half hour anatomically correct pose from our heads for our lifedrawing homework (along with actual lifedrawing) and I thought it would be great to draw a jockey. Of course, a jockey needs a horse and that horse needs tack if the jockey's gonna stand in the stirrups like this (btw, wowza, this jockey may be a tad on the big side since most of the clips I've been watching have been from Seabiscuit, who was a small horse with a big jockey) and I quickly discovered that naked people riding tacked horses JUST DO NOT LOOK RIGHT. So I clothed the poor sod and now he's extra happy 'cus his crown jewels aren't getting splattered with poky flying grit.

So yeah... Moh's probably gonna be like WUT? but then I'll remind him that it'll be my birthday when he sees this (March 18th) and then he'll let off the lack of nudity because he's cool like that. We're mostly practicing lighting right now anyway. (Something which usually annoys the crap outta me, because OH YEAH I LEARNED THAT IN HIGHSCHOOL.) But now it's a nice excuse.

And yeah, my jockey ain't really anatomically correct, but I always try my best and that's what counts. Actually this bloke is pretty good for me.

The computer lab's gigantic ass scanner wasn't big enough for the full sketch! Isn't that incredable? And Moh's always telling me to draw bigger, haha.

I love horse racing. (It isn't my favourite equestrian sport though - that's show jumping, the only sport I actually follow somewhat. Eric Lamaze and Hickstead FTW! )

Seriously though, why can't we watch equestrian sports instead of retarded football or hockey? This is waaaaay more entertaining than a bunch of stinky neanderthal lookin' men running around and getting brain damage!
