Slow posting rate lately, schools been taking up a lot of my schedule :'( Anyways, here is my Lightfury design. There are a lot of things I can say about the Hidden World, but to keep things short I'll just say that it definitely wasn’t my favorite out of the three films for many reasons. I actually do like the concept of the Lightfury, but I do feel that many of the design choices they made with her were......a bit overkill (the pink forehead hearts, purple eyeshadow, and extremely small feet). Especially because we didn’t really get a solid explanation for why she looks the way she does, other than she had to look less like dragon and more like a “female”. (like adaptations for being semi-aquatic, cave dwelling, etc.) So, I gave her larger feet, and more visible markings to make her resemble a snow leopard or a big cat that she was originally inspired by, and a small scar on her nub. I wanted her design to be more synonymous with Toothless, with him looking like a panther in the first film, and her looking like a snow leopard, keeping the big cat dragon concept.

I was tempted to change her entirely by maybe giving her gills and webbed feet or make her look like her original concept art (multiple sail fins, more ear nubs) but I decided against it as I wanted her to look as close to the original as possible. Also, I already designed the Nightlights so it wouldn’t match up if I made her look entirely different from them, but I could always change this later and probably will.
