Kenai very rarely takes anything seriously, preferring to have a laugh than to do any grisly or menial tasks. In times of serious need however, he will 'sober up' so to speak and get whatever job needs doing done despite his otherwise carefree nature. He can be depended on once his trust and friendship is earned, but he has a slight problem of acting a bit too big for his britches at times. He thinks the world of himself and genuinely believes he can do anything he sets his mind to, and because of this has quite a few failures under his belt- he doesn't let that stop him though! He can run his mouth a little more than he should at times but thankfully he's never gotten himself into any real trouble doing so- ... yet.

History:
Kenai and his twin, Orion, were born last into a large family - consisting of themselves, their mother, their father, their 'other mother', and two older brothers by the name of Denahi and Sitka.
Kenai was the most 'normal' looking of the pair of twins, his twin brother featuring a bear's front half, and a feline's back half. However, as it would eventually turn out, Kenai was not in fact a maer, but a Bjorn like his twin, and older brothers; but for the time being, Kenai would attempt to get by as the 'normal' cub of the pair, until his struggle became very apparent, and all at once the attention of parentals rested squarely on him and resolving his issues, instead of Orion's funny missmatched walk.
After much discussing, and gently asking what was making the cub so seemingly miserable, Kenai eventually managed to find the words to voice his discomfort and misery, and swiftly enough his family fell into referring to him as a Him, and a Bjorn both, desiring only that he feel more comfortable.

When the age came for Orion and Kenai to successfully kill at least once for the pack, both managed, Kenai with considerably more excitement than his twin, though his now more relaxed and rather silly personality persisted. It was quickly decided he'd do better as a Selsa, as the young Bjorn was.. reluctant to do much work. Hunting, an essential, would be ill-suited. After much hemming, hawing, and fussing, Kenai was set to apprentice under a clothier, a wobbly feline-esque bjorn called Rœkia, who made clothing items out of fur and leather.

Kenai ultimately ended up detesting this role, and thus soon parted ways with the clothier, and largely spent his time, to his father's agitation, lazing around the den.
With the year 1996, came fleeing austerians, their forest occupied by the invading force of the shadows. Before very long, Linx was under a violent and vicious seige, for 'harboring enemies'. In the violence and disruption that followed, Kenai's family remained unharmed and relatively safe, something he was grateful for.

Not too long after the siege, Auster was freed, and life returned to normal - the invading force, 'The Shadow Alliance' seeming to snuff out completely. Kenai was still lounging about the tunnels, most of the time managing to not be terribly useful. His twin Orion was often traveling on trade routes now, and when Orion was out of linx, Kenai felt a strange lack of connection to nearly everything else.

When the formaris crisis came, Kenai largely avoided assisting, though he was dragged along on several hunts, all of which turned out not to be fruitful (to his great disgruntlement; if he were made to work there should at least be something to show for it.)
Eventually, everything resolved itself, and the reformed 'Shadow Vanguard' seemed to settle, now having their own home. When Kenai stumbled into several in free roaming territory, he found their company pleasant, their manner relaxed. He began seeking them out where he could find them, always talking, and growing increasingly more curious.
In the spring of 2004, Kenai, after much vetting to ensure the man meant no harm, was welcomed into the vanguards' ranks, leaving his family home and Linx behind. He sorely hopes no linx leadership recognizes him later, because the awkwardness would be... extremely uncomfortable.
