Yes technically, though because I am using Space Wolf rules for my army the two are independent. Not sure though if a proper Iron Fathers armour would be black or red

Speaking strictly from personal taste i'd go with red, if only to give him a bit of a distinction from standard Iron Hands Space Marines.

I agree. I also think if i had two red models or two black i would have a lot of explaining to do to people about how one is a Chaplin and the other a Techmarine.
