Description I was down in Pioneer Square in Seattle and this guy asked for a hand out, so I gave him $1.50 for this pic. Suggested that he should not pose in any particular way, but to just be himself. At first I thought the shot was not that great, but then later the title came to mind.

Edited in Photoshop, the background was to dark for anything so I made some background from some textures I had been taking throughout the day.

I thought this was a painting, and he is a great model. He'd be a good one to find again and do a series. But would that ever be possible? Characters are tough to fake, and this is so raw. Good, fresh quality. I really like the color and tones.

You know...I think I've talked to this guy before! Physically, he looks familiar...but it's that expression that brings back some memory.

the concept is great. If often wondered when looking at homeless people how they ended up there... if they had some kind of master plan in their mind that just hasnt quite worked out for them yet.. you just happened to capture that train of thought in a photograph.. indeed it might all be up there..he just got delt a shity hand in life. Inspiring peice...amazing what braving the cold of the city and a $1.50 will get you.

It seems really painterly, I guess its the vibrancy of the highlights and darks. And the background you did probably does alot to it.

This guys got a lot of character, looks like a sagely grandfatherly type.

Oh, man, that's awesome. X3 I love the idea behind this.. For some reason, I have an art affinity for homeless guys. They're so dramatic or tragic-looking. They make wonderful pictures and drawings.. It's that sense of loss, or sense of hope.. The fine line between that makes them so intriguing.

this is great. i love how you let him choose his own pose, it really adds a lot more depth to his character. rather than the typical portrait, showing us how the photographer wants us to see the subject, this shows how he wants to be viewed. i think your title is great. i love the picture. its pretty awesome how this homeless man chose to pose like that and it ended up being such a beautiful picture.
i like the color and texture of the background as well. the colors really work with the tones of his skin and clothing. you did a really great job with this picture. id like to see this made into a series, more homeless people posing in whatever way they want, almost like a photobooth ... but for homeless people.
