Description
This is our elder daughter's prom dress which we made a few years ago . . . we weren't going to buy it from somebody else!
Rosie wanted a full length dress that she could flounce around in but that was classically elegant, simple and unfussy.
Rosie wore it for her school Prom, but now it comes out with us to craft shows when we are are selling our dressmaking services.
The pattern design was based loosely on a commercial princess line pattern, but that was basically just a starting point to get the main block sizing in the right ballpark.
Main fabric is polyester satin back dupion with the shiny side out and is fully lined with antistatic acetate
The dress is fully interlined with dress net for crispness and rustle. It was worn with a net petticoat to support the skirt and provide extra flounce!
We did the embroidery too using variants from our spiral wave design.
