Description
This is just a quick, lazily colored version of my nutcracker (from The Nutcracker Ballet ). I wanted to get his design together and put some colors in, but didn't feel like going upstairs to get my tablet out of the bag. I will probably make another, proper picture of him, but I needed somewhere to put his information, because I felt like it and drawing him helped me come up with his brilliant (*scoff*) name.
Nussknacker is nutcracker in German, since his story originated in Germany I thought it is fitting. His first name is Waldemar, which means great leader and Wal for short, which turns it into a play on the word walnut which is the nut most commonly cracked with a nutcracker (at least in my household). Also I think the name Waldemar is about as attractive as Herbert (which means I find it not attractive at all), and I couldn't leave it standing like that.

Now about him as a character. He is the counterpart to Clara Sugarplum, daughter of the Sugarplum Fairy, and she keeps telling him they are betrothed and meant to be, due to their fairy tale destiny. However he is not at all pleased with that destiny and after Raven decided she could find her own destiny, he made up his mind to follow her cause and be a rebel. Besides not liking his destiny of becoming a full blown nutcracker (the useless hands are enough; and they are useless, because I can't draw hands, so I gave him mittens lol), he also has the hugest crush on a girl that is not part of his fairy tale, but he's way to shy to tell her. He is shy in general around people he doesn't know and very self-conscious about his hands and teeth (you can't see it here, but he has minor buckteeth going on, which is why he tries to keep his mouth shut as much as possible). Around friends however he is sarcastic and funny and allows them to see his insecurities and occasional grumpiness. He counts Clara as his close friend, since they grew up together, although he knows about her alleged feelings for him and his annoyance at her telling him his declaration to rebel is "just a phase". A girl he also knows for a long time, but doesn't like very much is Mouseline Queen (not related to Raven Queen), the future mouse queen and daughter of the mouse king. She tries to curse him and start fights at every corner and he'd like nothing more than to see her in a mousetrap. Mouseline wants his kingdom, like her father before her and even though she loves her father, she is a little embarrassed by him, since he didn't manage to remain king. She plans on ruling the nutcrackers kingdom for a long time, and needs to stop Clara from saving him, so that's the only beef between the girls. But that's enough sidetracking about Mouseline, some final details about the nutcracker need to be disclosed. He likes simple things, simple clothes, designs, etc. in part, because he's scared he can't stop the fairy tale from happening, since he's already part nutcracker and if he becomes a full nutcracker he will look silly with too much decor on his body.
The wood detail was found on google and for the pose I referenced an image of Daring Charming, because his outfit was already somewhat similar to that of Wal.
