Okay so for some reason, when im hyped up on chocolate and Monster and watching Wipeout I get the inspiration for a new MLP:FiM character.

I figure, there are seaponies and water serphents, why not dragons?

Then I got to really thinking. Why, if there are water dragons, were they not seen in the show? Simple.

They were hunted.

The thin, flexible, and durable spines that ridge their head would be valuable to bookwriters, the fins on the side of their heads (which I have dubbed scalefins) would be great on seapony armor, and the feather-like waterproof scales at the end of their tails (which i have also dubbed, this time featherscales) would most likely be wanted for household chores as they are increadibly sharp. Some of the water dragons were also increadibly dangerous- when fully grown some can develop unique abilities such as the ability to change the pigment of their scales to hide, which some less goodly-dragons could take advantage of.

Whatever the reason they had, seaponies, unicorns, pegasi, and earth ponies alike banded together to get rid of the water menace, and they did. Over the years passing the massacre, the harvested spines broke and turned to dust, the scalefins cracked and crumbled, and the featherscales dulled as the ponies used the at-the-time abundant resources to the breaking point. It was only when very few remained that the ponies realized that, though they had been rid of the few dragons that had plagued them, they had also gotten rid of the many water dragons that kept other nasty creatured at bay. They realized their mistake too late, and vowed to never hunt a species to extinction ever again. The story became myth, much like Nightmare Moon though this was before her time, and though regular dragons plagued Equestria they were not hunted or killed. Sadly, it was too late to save the water dragons as every male, mother and child water dragon was killed and the entire species thought to be extinct and myth.

Until Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy happened upon some unusual looking cracked eggshells...

Enter Lily the Water Dragon. No, she does not have a deformation. Baby water dragons do not have front arms because it would be rather cumbersome to be swiming and have these akward things you would never use weighing you down.

Anyway, I wanted a dragon character that didnt look exactly like Spike. Reminds me too much of the Sonic fandom. I looked, a lot of baby dragon OCs look exactly like Spike, almost to a tee. So, Lily looks enough like Spike (as he's the only baby dragon i've seen in the show) to be recognisable as a dragon, but unique enough that she's not just a recolor and an actual character that fits to the style but she's not totally Mary-Sue. I tried to give her changes that are a disadvantage and an advantage, not to mention that makes her defenseless and totally cute, and any changes made are completely logical and needed... as far as I know. Her personality is reasonable and I just love her.

Also, she's simple enough that I can even draw her in a art block. Go me.

Oh and I know those eyes in the second down on the left pic (With her in the water being sad) I have seen somewhere but I have no idea where... Hm. Anyway, once I started drawing her I couldn't stop. I have two full pages of her interacting with different situations and ponies, including some of the crew. And Spike. I can't draw them well at all, but I tried drawing Twilight for you there. Which is funny, as she's my most hated pony.
