Description I'm done! I'm done with Fourside, so that means I've gotta make Onett. If you're good at programming with Python or are really good drawing PSI (I need them for my game), leave me a comment. You'll receive full credit for your work, of course.

Do you have a thread somewhere where you discuss the details of your game? (blenderartists/SourceForge)

Python scripting is fairly easy, but it all depends on what you plan on doing

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FangDude In reply to FluffyBlueCow [2011-01-24 12:43:45 +0000 UTC]

Nice, your the first person to ask about this. No that I've got at least some interest, I'll be creating the thread on Nystic. Later today, though.

FluffyBlueCow In reply to FangDude [2011-01-24 15:18:01 +0000 UTC]

There's bound to be some help at BlenderArtist.org or at least a game that works simular than what you have in mind. Copying bits and pieces is a lot faster than buiding the entire thing yourself. Also, make sure you get connected on IRC channels. (I'd help out with that, but I'm not on my home PC)

If you're planning on having multiple people on the project, you might have to look at something like SourceForge. There you'll find all the needed tools under one roof, including Version Control Software. (I'm assuming that you're not a development programmer)

Please let me know where I'll be able to watch the progression of your game. I'm curious to see how a blender game grows from scratch to completion. (I've tried building a game)

Wow, thanks for all the advice. I'll look into it. Nystic has an IRC, so I was planning on using that one. So as to make a private room. I'm gonna check out the SourceForge. Just getting things straight, are you going to help, or be an observer?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FluffyBlueCow In reply to FangDude [2011-01-26 08:12:17 +0000 UTC]

I'd love to help, but currently I'm barely getting to my own projects. So, I'll have to settle for only being an observer.

How's the development coming along?
I do have an idea for you that will speed up the process quite a bit. Instead of going into a full 3D interface, keep it to the original "squares" concept. This will then be cubes. So, for example, pressing right moves your character into the next square as it did with the original, only that the graphics is now in 3D.

Or did you have something like GTA in mind?

FangDude In reply to FluffyBlueCow [2011-02-28 21:45:18 +0000 UTC]

Well, my friend (who's a proficient programmer, but not with python) and I have been tossing ideas around for the game. Everything from an adventure (without its old RPG properties) to an MMO. So, we've both been teaching ourselves Python as fast as we can off YouTube. I'm really busy in real life, so the modeling has been slowed, but I hope I'll be able to get back to is soon. I am not going to let this die. Although, it may be hindered for a short time. Thanks for your interest in my project, by the way.

Oh wow
Is that pixels?
Or did you use a 3D program?
Either way- that's impressive.
I couldn't do that to save my life.

This would be impossible with pixels. I used Blender, which is a free, open source 3D suite. And thank you!
